I thought we'd see more progress by now. I really like him and think hes a great coach but I'm not seeing the improvement I expected. Is he struggling or was he given such a dumpster fire, that this is a long rebuild? But even then a win here or there is expected.

I'd hold my tongue if I were you. Texas State has yet to play GSU this year.

I know, I know. I expressed my reservations in the App St game thread. But still, I feel like they just need to get that monkey off their back and they start winning some games.

I'd stick with Trent. I think the rot at Ga State was pretty bad when he came in.

Not impressed, he was supposed to be a coach on the rise and has done little to nothing. 62 yards of total offense today. Has seen little success at any level. He somewhat turned around an FCS program....kinda....ish. Career record as a headcoach is now 21-55. He was 20-36 at the FCS level, just a bad hire.........luckilyu they have Cobb as AD now, the king of bad hires.

Sounds like his bad weather offensive plan is as good as his defensive game plan vs. the option. And then there were no half-time adjustments. He has made the comment that they need to come up with a plan the players could execute, not sure you could get more simpler than what I've seen the last two weeks.

I would fire him but at the same time it isn't like there is some sort of standard to uphold. FGSU is a startup, and most startups get beat around for awhile.

I think I will go with panama on this 2015 is the year.

I agree. CTM has shown some bone-headed calls but GSU looks better this year than last, even if the record doesn't show. Look at 2013 vs. 2014 arkansas, similar concept. I still think the panthers get their first FBS win vs Troy if they play inspired football to overcome what depth issues there may be.

I expect GSU to win more games in 2015, too.

The toughest thing for GaSt is that it is hard to get support for the Turner Field project in times like these.

I fully believe Miles will be given next year, but after next year there probably needs to be 3-4 wins at least to justify him remaining.

RE: Trent Miles
He keeps talking about recruiting after the losses. His game plan vs southern was terrible, and they made zero adjustments at half vs our option. We had lanes that I could drive a bus through all game. They had zero going for them today vs app. Embarssing effort all around. Again he throws his players under the bus and talks about recruiting.

Talking that bad about his players has taken its tole. They don't play for him anymore. He's lost this team. It will literally take 3-4 years to recover from that kind of coaching poison without a HC change. Good luck State. You may have dug the hole deeper from Curry.

RE: Trent Miles
I said halfway through the season, we have seen progress, though it's sometimes hard to see. If that progress wasn't there, i'd say start over, but i do believe it's there. Now, if we don't see at the very least 4 wins next season (we really need 5 or 6) then no, my patience will run out. So honestly, i don't think it matters if we win another game or not this season, next season we have to see actual games being won, because that's the next step. This season, we saw games almost being won. We can't just ask for almost wins anymore.

You never seem to know what you are going to see with GaSt. Some days you see them trounced and few positives then you get games where they seem a play or two away from being OK.

RE: Trent Miles
When CTM came in from Indiana St., the prevailing notion was that it took until his third year there to really see the improvement, we just hope it happens sooner for us. We understood that it might take a while because the situation was so bad. (Remember, we were one of the worst FCS teams in the nation in 2012!) Somewhere, that hope for faster results became an expectation if CTM was doing his job. We have to give him next year to see if what he's doing is making its mark for the positive.

Another win this year would sure make that wait easier to stomach. If we're still this bad at this point next year...CTM was not what we needed...

EDIT: BTW, this is one of the lowest points I've felt in terms of despondence over the future of our football team. I can't imagine ever not supporting them, but that prospect is sadder today than most. This will be so much easier in 20 years when we can say, "We just need a couple of recruiting cycles and we can be back where we were in [insert season we did well]." We just need to make things happen so we eventually have that season we do well...

RE: Trent Miles
It's hard for me to determine whether Miles is truly awful because we don't have a full team of players. Next year we'll be basically close to 85 scholarships and I'm done hearing the excuses.
