WMU vs. Ohio Game Thoughts
Didn't tailgate today... but I've never parked so far away in my LIFE for a WMU game. And this was 1 hour before kick-off! I was pissed and giddy all at the same time. One of the best tailgating environments I've ever seen at WMU. Just awesome to walk through the crowds. It's stupid that you can't park at the KPH lot on game days. They're missing out on revenue.

Jarvion Franklin. You stud.

Corey Davis. Stud #2.

Early on, I thought Ohio's defensive game plan was really well planned, but poorly executed. They were disguising their defensive sets brilliantly and it was causing problems for us on offense... we made some really nice adjustments though and it worked out (clearly). Their front line was HUGE.

This is not the same Ohio team that I am used to seeing under Solich. They were very undisciplined today.

Besides one really bad mistake (the 2nd pick), Terrell has me believing. The stat sheet doesn't necessarily show it (2 INT's), but I thought it was arguably his best QB play of his career today. He made some really, really great throws. I am convinced he will be our quarterback next year, barring some extreme/unforeseen setback.

I lost a little bit of respect for Frank Solich today. Why on earth was Ohio still trying to comeback and score in the final minute of the game? Maybe it was because Fleck challenged the final kick return players' knee being down on the 3, and won the call? Who knows... Regardless, I thought it was kind of bogus for Solich to be using up all of his timeouts, down 42-14. I watched the final handshake very closely and Solich didn't even look Fleck in the eye, did a quick hand shake, and kept on walking. Didn't miss a step. The two didn't even exchange one word. Very odd.

We are one heck of a well-oiled machine. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't win out. That's how good we're playing.

I'm officially worried Fleck could be gone after this year, already. Yup, I said it. 03-puke

Nice analysis as usual. Unfortunately, I think you are right about Fleck being gone after this season. Even if we win 7 or 8 I'm sure he'll be getting a couple offers. KB and Dunn knocked one out of the park with the Fleck hire. Hope he stays long enough to get us that elusive bowl victory.

I think personal that Fleck would need to have 2 years in a row to get any offers that he would jump ship for.

RE: WMU vs. Ohio Game Thoughts
I was thrilled with the play of our special teams unit. With the exception of some questionable choices by Braverman not to catch punts near the 20, I thought that unit played better than they've played in years. Just outstanding.

It is clear that MAC officials have no idea what a holding call is. Both O-lines (especially OU #79) were just grabbing and tackling the D-linemen.

The way he recruits, I think he gets an offer or two right away.

RE: WMU vs. Ohio Game Thoughts
Congrats on the win, getting a win at homecoming in front of a good crowd is always good for building program support. Was impressed with your QB, with Franklin not being able to establish much of a running game in the first half your QB made up for it by being extremely accurate. As you saw, without Vick at QB and Oullette at RB (didn't play b/c of injury) Ohio really struggles to find any offensive production.

Got to add, I find this quote below really bizarre. You lost respect for a coach for playing through to the end? Really? As for the handshake, that's what Frank does every time, there's no animosity.

Yeah, in most cases when a team is down 28 pts. with less than a minute remaining they tend to put the reserves in and run clock.

Specifically, Ohio called a timeout with 9 seconds left on the clock. Apparently I wasn't alone... the entire stadium boo'ed.

Don't worry about what one poster (that poster) says. Frank has always been a class act in everyone's opinion.

Basketball teams just dribble out on the last possession of obviously lost games.

This was similar. Maybe if some player was one stat from a team record or something, but even then what is the point? Just concede and live for another day.

I don't think I was imagining this.

Building a program?

News flash, we beat you the last time we played, we lead the all time series, and we have 5 of the top 10 home field crowds in MAC history. Weve had 7 losing seasons in the last 20 years, and have been to 4 bowl games in recent years. We had a couple of down years. Other than Eastern, nobody in this league is building a program.

Seriously, I hate backhanded complements disguised as being good sports. I'd have more respect for him if he'd come here and called Fleck a dick for pouring it on Ol Frank.

You must have a pretty good eye out there in Denver, since every other person in Waldo Stadium today boo'ed Solich when he called a timeout with 9 sec. left. But yeah, keep riding those coattails. 03-melodramatic

He's just been looking for a fight all day. Trolling, playing with rep. Sad. Can't just enjoy another W. Too invested in hating the coach and other posters.

Disagree completely WRT this situation in basketball. You will NEVER see a team that is losing dribble out the clock. They will always try to score.

I don't have an issue with Solich calling timeout when his team has the ball and they have a chance to score. Crowd has a right to boo, but there's nothing unsportsmanlike about it.

I do have an issue with a team calling timeouts when they are down by more than one score (Meyer with BGSU in 2000s).

I don't have a problem with playing until the end. Every second on that field can be a teaching moment.

Why would anyone have a problem with playing and coaching until the end? Frank has been a class act and wouldn't do anything other than what's good for his team. Just a silly observation IMO.

Exactly. Plus it didn't affect the spread any, so that's cool. Now if that was a back door cover for Ohio and I had WMU, sure I'd be pissed.
