How bad is SMU ? Their closest game was a 21-point blowout at ECU.

After UH beat us (barely), they turned around beat the crap out of a decent Temple team, on the road...I think they've found their QB in Ward.

Plus, their D is solid...last season we had 4 TOs against them...this season, 5 TOs

It wasn't on the road. I was there at Houston. Temple is not a good team at all.

Good call, it was at Houston...but still, I don't think Temple is that bad...I think Houston has gotten better under Ward.

I like the trend! Not only does the AACK have its share of Bottom 10 teams with ESPN but they have a number of squads in the bottom 10 over at the CBS sportslines.com poll. Conversely CUSA DOES NOT HAVE ANYBODY IN EITHER BOTTOM 10!03-nutkick

Temple has beaten no one.

Vandy two wins against UMASS and Charleston Southern by a combined 4 points.

Tulsa lone win over 2-5 Tulane

UCONN lone win over Stony Brook by a FG

Delaware State 2-6 in the MEAC

SMU and Uconn have been in the AAC for a couple of years so they should have their act together better than they do. Tulane and Tulsa are in their first year in the AAC so their teams are basically still C-USA level teams. Give them a year or two to recruit and they will be better. Other than those 4, no team is worse than 3-3. Line the AAC up next to CUSA team by team, and you won't find anyone in the country (barring a CUSA fan) that would choose CUSA over the AAC. Most people haven't even heard of a fourth of the teams in CUSA. A couple weeks ago: Chris Fowler- "Marshall takes on Middle Tennessee State." David Pollack- "Who?"

That's funny. He played against MT in 2003.

Can we talk about this idea that teams are going to "get their act together"?

For starters UCONN has been in the AAC/Big East for more than a decade, they've seen their football conference get progressively weaker since they arrived. When they joined the conference they were joining Miami, VT, Pitt, WVU, Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College and later saw the departure of Louisville. They have no excuse and there's no reason to expect them to suddenly "get their act together" as for SMU, Tulane and Tulsa, they're all playing in a league that is ~70% of their previous league, a former MAC member and three average at best former Big East members. What do any of them have to adjust to?

And I hope you realize Pollack was being facetious to make a point about G5's in general and Marshall's schedule.

Just now during the ECU game. The announcer says...

"competition level goes down entering conference play"

LOL

Yes I realize Pollack was being facetious. And yes, SMU, Tulsa, and Tulane are playing 70% of teams from their previous conference. BUT, those teams are BETTER VERSIONS than they were in CUSA. Heck, look at Memphis haha

You would give anything to have your team move in to the AAC. As of right now, if the Power 5 decides to break off, then any team in the G5 that thinks they can hang money wise can also join that new league as independents, and ultimately would end up forming a sixth conference. 70% of the AAC will be able to do it.

The only reason to join the AAC is basketball even though this year it isn't going to be great. ECU. Tulane. Will bring the rpi way down.

I disagree. The reason for any C-USA team to join the American is money. The American earned $ 72 million last year. That was the total amount of the Bowl payouts.,, NCAA credits and the ESPN deal. Anyone school from outside the P5 would join the American . You can knock the AAC all you want , but all of your schools would join our conference in a heartbeat .

Also the AAC is the home of the current NCAA basketball champions . The UCONN Huskies rule the NCAA . UCONN , Cinny , SMU , Memphis and Temple all great programs. How soon people forget .
