That said, this team is very thin at several spots. We'll need some luck to continue improving, as in limit the injuries to key personnel, and don't overwork Franklin.

Even though he had 37 carries today, he wasn't in the game for extended periods.

For gods sake could a few of you negative nellies ever just say Great Job. Try looking at life and Bronco sports with your glasses half full instead of half empty. The negativity and glum and POSSIBLE doom on this board is enough to scare away any recruit who stumbles across these weekly diatribes of disaster.

Jeez. Relax bra. We are going to the GAYLORD hotels bowl.

If 149 yards and 1 TD is "not great" then I'll take "just okay" any day.

Calm down, Buttons. Many of us DID say that. Try reading threads instead of looking for somebody to criticize like the day care brigade does because others aren't sufficiently giddy for your tastes.

Great win.

No one on this board except maybe me and Chip thought the Broncos would be in this position. I believed it could happen and everyone else thought 3-4 wins max. Well...join the revolution fellas because there's a new sheriff in town and it ain't Reggie Hammond. Its PJ Fleck!

Ummm... hi

I think I may have seen this coming loooong ago (didn't expect it to be this soon) but it was called "blind hope" and being a "lapdog" and some other garbage back then... oh well... I'm enjoying every minute of this. Glad to see us improving ahead of schedule.

Also they called the Admiral "Coach Doogie" back then. Now they refer to him as just "Coach" or "Sir".

Love this quote from Justin Currie:

"It's nice to have confidence in our offense to move the ball down the field and score points. It's been huge this year compared to last year, where there were a lot of three-and-outs and we probably weren't as fresh as we are right now because of what the offense is doing."

His INT today was great. I really like the way he plays.

Yeah, your the typical bandwagon fan! Where we're you last year when the team was garbage? You would make a GREAT Dallas Cowboy fan! Troll.

04-cheers Yes it was a great win. I did read all the posts and while many did say positive things, there was an underlying negativity in my opinion. Since that is often the case here I mentioned it.
So I'll gladly enjoy the win and look at the bright side. As an "old lap dog" I went to breakfast with the Broncos this morning and saw some nice play out of our new freshmen. They WILL CONTRIBUTE this year. While we won't beat Kentucky or any other 1op 10 team they just might win the west again and be a team to deal with come tournament time.

Hey look we're all presumably WMU fans and alumns who want the program to be successful but we all have different opinions and ideas about how to get there. We're doing well now so lets all just enjoy it and be inclusive. The score keeping about who is right or wrong doesn't really matter. The kids and coaches are making us proud. This is why we care about college sports.

Oh man I have a lot to say after the win:
(10-18-2014 04:27 PM)ColinApocalypse Wrote:  Btw, Braverman only had like 3 passing yards in this game. Phillips was by far our leading receiver.

This is important. Past WMU teams were too one-sided to go anywhere. Each game someone different steps up.

(10-18-2014 04:46 PM)Liam9903 Wrote:  I think that we're learning about Fleck after seeing some success and the failures of last season. He comes across as some sort of pitch man or snake oil salesman at first but he is definitely not a phony. He's just this high energy guy who believes in what he is doing.
One thing I noticed right away, even before the opener vs Purdue, was that during the off-season was that he was relatively quiet. No new crazy slogan. No “Row the Boat! Row the Boat!” over and over. Could be because after the dismal 1-11 season people were just annoyed, and a lot who aren’t paying much attention probably still are. But I think one big reason why it was a quieter off-season on his end was that the base and philosophy of his tenure had been established. There was nothing new to add. He’s going to do what he’s going to do and isn’t going to change anything. People didn’t/don’t like that he changed everything, but he’s not going to change the philosophy he brought in. “Build it and they will come.”

I’d really like to see video of him jumping into the crowd celebrating with the Bronco fans. I am curious in seeing how perceptions of Fleck continue to change as time goes on. Of course, there will always be that crowd that says “I told you so” when he leaves when the team gets good, or “Hiring a brand new coach and going 1-11 one year wasn’t worth it just to see him leave.”

(10-18-2014 06:12 PM)DesertBronco Wrote:  If he hits 9 this year, he's BC$ bound. No way can we keep him, someone will throw big bucks at him.
As in 9 wins? That’d be either winning out and losing in the MACC and bowl game, or 4 more in the regular schedule and the bowl game. That’s still quite a few wins needed. It’s doable at this pace but is a lot. The MAC is very competitive this year. But yeah, BC$ teams have no doubt noticed the recruitment class Fleck brought in the first real year he could recruit and is turning the program around.

I thought we’d be able to get to 6-6 (still may get that) looking at the schedule and just because the MAC can be a very competitive league where teams turn around a losing season and become competitive again very early on. What is/was your season prediction and why?

----- ------
Also, it’s fun celebrating the big win, and the wins we’re starting to see, and the way the program appears to be going, but let’s remember there’s still a lot of football to be played. How much of it is relative too? If we do go 7-5 or 6-6 this season that’s still not getting over the hump and getting to the level we know Bronco football can get to. But it’s absolutely exciting to be competitive again and pull off the Ws in a cutthroat MAC.

---------

Also, Good News #2: Chips lost today to Ball St.

Let's pack Waldo for Homecoming and get the W vs Ohio U!

First time we've won 3 on the road since 2010. If we manage another road win before the season's over, it'll be the first time we've taken 4 away from Kalamazoo since 2000.

Not bad, Broncos. Not bad at all.

Before the season, wouldn't have thought we'd go 2-1 in the UT/BSU/BGSU stretch (point away from 3-0). I had UT and BGSU as losses and BSU a coin-flip.
