SBR: Bama to play MTSU in 2015
To continue the trend of Alabama playing (and giving money to) our conference members, Alabama will be giving MTSU $1.5 Million next year

...conversely, how much are we getting for the opener vs. UT in Nashville? I would think it would be pretty comparable to 1.5 mil...

How much are we getting from Tennessee? Also, I'd rather have the home-and-home that they got with Vandy.

I feel like Tennessee is going to give us a very paltry allotment of tickets to that game. I went to a Titans game two weekends ago, it's not a very big stadium

Yeah, I don't get why they want to play us in Nashville.

I think it's to give the proverbial tea bag to Vandy by playing in their city. Obviously, it's also cool to recruits to see UT play in a NFL stadium too

...bet they will be mucho dinero, in that case... was wanting to get a 'family trip' deal going, if tix are reasonable...

I think the game is a recruiting tool for UT, trying to hit the central part of the state... although it appears Vandy is regressing back to....well, Vandy 03-drunk , thus UT may not need worry about doing these games in the future, unless they just want to 'throw a bone' to the west side UT fans.

Yeah, but why us? They play Oklahoma next year too, that seems like a more logical choice for a neutral site game to me.

Yeah I really enjoyed it! The inside of the stadium was really clean and had alot of good vendors, such as Logan's Roadhouse and Jack Daniels BBQ. Two MONSTROUS jumbotrons that were very nice, but then again it was the first pro game I've been too so that may be standard in stadiums now. I'm used to watching our 60 inch tube television that we have at Legion.

Also, there is a really cool pedestrian bridge that brings everyone across the river into the stadium. Should be a cool atmosphere next year!

definitely a recruiting tool for UT. Plus, there's a lot of Middle Tennessee residents who are going to be more than happy to see UT play closer to them. I'm excited that we're getting the chance to play at LP field. It's a game I'm planning on attending for sure.

Can't find my tweet from that far back but I believe the allotment of UAB tickets was around 2,000.

As a knoxville resident who pays some attention to ut, next year is not a bad time to play them. Good defense and great wideouts but an absolutely mediocre offensive and no established returning qb. They can be had if we bring the A game.

This isn't a "neutral site" game like the Chick-fil-A games in Atlanta or the ones at the Cowboys stadium. This will be a UT home game played in Nashville. Like Bama's home games when they played at Legion Field.

It's strictly a recruiting tool. The midstate has really improved over the last decade in turning out top notch talent. I think the pressure that utk was feeling from james franklin's success at vandy before he left, also made a utk game away from neyland in nashville an imperative.

Bc if they're going to travel (sure, it's not far, but it ain't home either) and try to impress recruits, they dont want to face a top 10 team, with a much higher risk of losing

RE: SBR: Bama to play MTSU in 2015
I think Tennessee wants to play UAB in Nashville because they are afraid that a bunch of their fans will stay away if they play UAB in Knoxville. There were a bunch of empty seats when we played them in Knoxville in 2010.

If they plan to use it as a recruiting tool in the Nashville area, it might backfire if UAB beats them. ;-)

MT has played Louisville at LP Field and I believe Western played Kentucky there as well. Great atmosphere. Y'all will have a blast. Just be prepared to see lots of ugly orange.

They'll want the true home field advantage (Knoxville) for Okie and SEC games. Our game is a decent choice for Nashville. Recruiting tool, but it also gives Nashville-area alums a chance to see the team...like Miss St. did by playing in Bham (yeah, it was an away game for them but plenty of tickets for Bham alums).
