Don't feel like the Lone Ranger there Tonto, as I'm sure there will be a whole bunch of folks headed to this thread. As Adam told Eve stand back we don't know just how big this thing is going to get.04-rock

Can't imagine why this would need much moderation.

It's not like we're coming up with vicious rumors about one another.

I'm simply calling GagSt. a dumpster fire because they've done such a good job of living up to that billing so far.

True story, when I was in college and we were doing something that we were not entirely sure was completely within Arkansas State regulations, we would do the whistle and walk away technique when someone showed up.

It didn't work.

Well, these are football message boards so you do get the most passionate and loudest of each fan base. At any rate, I agree with Stan in that I am just ready to watch some football.

And after the game I am ready to wear my Georgia Southern gear and enjoy the rest of the day and night with friends in Buckhead. I also have to say I get where it comes from, but I have always been surprised at the State versus Southern "big city versus cow pasture" dynamic. So many of Southern's students come from Atlanta and mostly return there where they go to the same concerts, cheer on the Braves and Falcons, etc. so our fan bases really are not all that different. We just have a great deal more that we've scratched, clawed, and worked to gather over the last 30+ years.

RE: A head start on the GS/Gag St. game
A little insight into why we are like we are. We have a bit of an inferiority complex because we haven't always had nice things. When we restarted football we didn't have nice facilities, didn't have nice equipment and had no money to fix that problem. We got hand down uniforms from the local high school and put a stripe down the helmet using tape. Despite having nothing we won our first title in our second year of eligibility and have been winning since. We embrace our humble past with the plain uniforms and Beautiful Eagle Creek and don't like being told we can't do something. We have a certain resentment towards schools in North Georgia because it always seems they get things handed to them on a silver platter while we work for every cent. The fact that we get mistaken for GASt all of the time just adds fuel to the fire because we've worked hard over the years to develop an identity and a winning culture that doesn't always seem to get noticed. Most of our hatred for GASt comes from that or the fact that they got a quick invite while we've been waiting for one for thirty years. That and all of the smack talk back and forth.

I wish I were as confident as my fellow fans. I think GaSt has a good chance of pulling the upset if our team doesn't show up ready for a fight. This game is the most meaningful game in their program's young history and an opportunity to erase a lot of misery with one win. You better believe Miles will have a game plan exploiting our defense and the Panthers will be motivated. We better come with energy.

I'm just going to steer clear of these threads for the next two weeks because I know we've got a particular forum or two on our board (recently revived of course) that has well over a hundred pages of posts of Ga State fans from 2-3 years ago rubbing their invite into the FBS in our face and telling us we'd never amount to anything.

Maybe it was because when we finally got football, all we heard was we would never be as great as Southern, and it would be a cold day in hell if State got an FBS invite before Southern. It could have had something to do with that.
In all honesty, I knew nothing about Ga State football until I saw us getting attacked on AGS and on our own board. I have no idea who started it, but I know there was a lot of wild stuff being posted by SaintDK10, panama, and Hammer22 back in the 2010 timeframe.

Saint is nowhere to be found after taking his ball and running home. panama had reality hit him like a ton of bricks here recently it seems. Hammer (or Nice I should call him I guess) doesn't really speak much either. However, the hate fire they poured gas on still rages strong.

Oh panther fans, I wouldn’t take all this poking fun at FGSU seriously. Remember back when you first started your football team. You stated you’d be in FBS before Southern and it came true.

•Remember you got the cover of ESPN magazine stating that the new Panther team was born and how you were part of the BIG 3 in Georgia along with UGA & GT. I mean that’s something Southern never had.
•You have your own beat writer in the AJC. Not since ERK has the AJC covered RGSU.
•You have “The Dome” to play in & as a recruiting tool.
•You are in the largest media market in the South East.
•You had Bill Curry a true HC and a handpicked top notch coaching staff.
•With the above 5 points you were going to make Georgia Southern irrelevant in the state of Georgia.
•Southern is “delusional” & wouldn’t be picked up by an FBS conference because of our media market and a conference wouldn’t have anything to gain by picking use up.
•Georgia State can out recruit Southern because who would want to play for a Podunk team in SE Georgia.
•When you first started in FBS G-State you wanted a game with RGSU to prove that Southern couldn’t beat a FBS Georgia State and we were afraid to schedule one.
•You would be putting more fans in the seats than Southern could in their little FCS stadium.
