http://gigapixel.panoramas.com/washingto.../20140920/

It is Washington State's Stadium of the PAC12
Seating a hair below 33,000 seats.

Nice thing is you can zoom in on the cheerleaders and drunk coeds in the stands. (Not being creepy or anything.)

I'd take this in a heartbeat (painted blue and silver, of course)

IMO, the field should be angled towards the river, not parallel to Powhatan...the Wazzu field has a rather open end zone that would work.

So is ODU talking new stadium or adding on to your current stadium?

New and they are talking about putting it towards the back of the campus on the water.

I wonder if there is a way to minimize the amount of wind that will come off the water since we are more or less a pass first offense.

That would certainly make the sun a huge factor going that way in the afternoon/early evening games.

I know it would cost a little more, but i badly want the new stadium to have two scoreboards on either side of the field.

That be easy, grab the old one from Foreman Field and reuse with the New bigger one.

No. They need to put that into the Ted. :). It could hang from the rafters like at Cowboys Stadium and block all of the 3 pt attempts hoisted by VCU

They'd just blame it on the refs.

So when is the date for ODU construction on new stadium, will you have a new athletic field house and is the target number 33,000 seats expandable? It looks like RGSUs next expansion will be in 5 years (IF) we continue to sell out.

They just put out the RFP for the study. The study must be met by a firm that has built at least 3 stadiums in the last 3 years or something... so it's basically down to like 2 or 3 firms right off the bat. I wouldn't expect any renderings for a while. Either way I still think 2018 is feasible.

Im far from any stadium designer but I did like the way University of Maryland's Stadium lets you walk around the one end and it was a very open area there. I don't know mabey that is the end that goes towards the water?

Just so long as they take the time to do it right. I know we are up against a 2018 deadline; but that is still four years to plan, draw, test and get it right.

Since they did it right with the Ted, I feel they will get it right with the new stadium.

I've been playing with google maps for a couple of years now to see how the stadium will fit at Powhatan. We will have to go vertical. Not a sprawling facility. Unless the Mid-Rise is going down too, Foreman hardly fits on this site. Is the maintenance facility going also? It's not a big parcel. Can't wait to see what they come up with. Very concerned about tailgating and game day logistics with the coming move. Excited non the less.

I am curious as to the results of any soil borings there. That land, like so much of Norfolk is loosely filled swamp. I am not sure how vertical we can go ...07-coffee3

A couple of things (although I only viewed the panorama so not sure I'm getting the full perspective)...I don't care for the office building appearance in stadiums, here the structure in the end zone and the press box/suite area...wherever possible/practical use brick in Virginia please...also, as other have alluded to, the stands seem kind of flat-ish (Norfolk St)...I would rather have something steeper that gets the fans on top of the field and holds in the sound (mini-Seattle)...anyway, my two cent...
