Piers Morgan: Obama Needs To Get Off The Damn Golf Course…
[Image: 2zzi6ip.jpg]

“It’s time he got off the damn golf course, got up to speed with his intelligence briefings and focused on wiping out ISIS.”

When you've lost a leftist lib like Piers Morgan.....

Quote:For starters, Piers Morgan can write? Who knew?

On Wednesday, the ex-CNN talk show host wrote his first story as editor-at-large for the Daily Mail.

While the content is vicious, angry and sure to tickle conservative journalists and pols, the writing is colorful, even entertaining.

“A slapdash Secret Service detail isn’t what’s wrong with the White House — the real scandal is a President who is so complacent about protecting Americans,” the headline blares.

Piers predicts that now that President Obama went on “60 Minutes” and distanced himself from U.S. national intelligence agencies on the rapid spread of ISIS, he’s guaranteed himself leaks to the media for the remainder of his presidency.

“A more shameless, reprehensible display of buck-passing it would be hard to find from a sitting President,” he wrote.

I think I speak for every American when I say, in total sincerity, "STFU Piers and stay on your side of the pond. We find you to be just as infuriating as a Brit would find an American on BBC every night demanding everybody call football soccer -- and for all the same reasons."

Quote:As we’ve noted previously, the unique security concerns for the president mean that he and his family can’t simply head out on the road and plop down at a Motel 6. And all presidents have to be accessible for consultation and decision-making even if they’re on vacation. As Knoller tweeted, a president "is never really on ‘vacation.’ The job and responsibilities go with him wherever he is."

lol, yeah, I remember all the Bush haters blasting Bush everytime he went to the ranch. Now, those same folks defend Obama for doing the exact same thing. Of course there are also Bush folks screaming at Obama for taking vacations that said nothing when Bush did it. It works both ways and just shows how increadibly hypocritical politics can make some people.

What's funny is that American's are agitating the Obama use a military response when he was specially elected to contract the US presence abroad. I've got no idea what type of action anyone is expecting the President to commit to.

Of course there are also Bush folks screaming at Obama for taking vacations that said nothing when Bush did it. It works both ways and just shows how increadibly hypocritical politics can make some people.

Except that Bush took 4x the amount of vacations than Obama, so it's not exactly apples to apples.

Quote:On Aug. 8, 2014, Knoller tweeted that Obama had taken 19 vacations totaling 125 days so far while in office. Those numbers have risen a bit due to the Martha’s Vineyard vacation, but that’s still many fewer than George W. Bush’s 65 combined trips to his Texas ranch and his parents’ home in Kennebunkport, Maine, which totaled 407 days at the same point in his presidency.

Not included in this data are trips to the Camp David presidential retreat in western Maryland, which Knoller doesn’t count as "vacation." Knoller told Yahoo! News that, through Aug. 12, 2014, Obama had made 33 visits to Camp David for all or part of 84 days, while Bush had been there 108 times for all or part of 341 days.

You're not wrong that both sides have hypocrites, absolutely true. But it's false to equate their vacation time and handwave it away as the same, because it's patently not true. Democrats can complain about Bush's number of vacation days as being excessive without being inherently hypocritical, Republicans can't.

I don't remember how often Bush went golfing or hiking or "ranching" while he was at Crawford, but baring physical activities like these any President has the full access of his job requirements at his fingertips wherever he is thanks to modern technology. So it doesn't matter from a responsibility standpoint if Obama is golfing so much as its public perception. The Presidency, for all the inherent power that it wields these days, still has a lot of symbolic meaning. The President, be it Bush or Obama, needs to be SEEN doing the job when there is serious matters happening in the world.
