RE: PBR sold to Russians
"€œPabst Blue Ribbon is the quintessential American brand —€“ it represents individualism, egalitarianism and freedom of expression —€“ all the things that make this country great,"€ Eugene Kashper, the chairman of Oasis Beverages said.

My favorite part of the article, those are qualities highly valued in Russia

that's stupid. that's my guy. but it's befitting me. i desire not much more than a becoming russian winter with regina spektor on the record player, a warm vodka and pbr by my side, a roaring fire place, the windows open, a dostoyevsky novel in my lap, and my beautiful woman lovingly watching this man at work

This is the wave of the future. If you want to sell internationally, you're going to have to get your parent corporation out of the USA. It's already happening, obviously, and going to pick up steam. At some point, congress will start trying to limit it. That will speed it up, as everybody tries to get out before the limits kick in.

I drink some genessee from time to time. it's not any good but I kinda grew up on the crap and it's cheap. given the right time and place I can stand just about any beer.

only one that just wouldn't ever work was scotch buy beer from safeway way back when the first push for generic or store-brands started. This crap lasted about 2 months til it was yanked from the shelves,. I think it was $1.50 a six pack. haha

You do.

You asked:
"Is any beer American owned anymore? :("

I answered:
"I get that nasty American beer from Walgreens...you can get 12 for $6.98 plus tax"

Don't ask a question if you don't want the answer...

If I'm going to drink beer, and I do a lot, I'm going to drink something I want to drink. Mass produced American Beer is crap.

Give me Kona, Lost Coast Brewery, FireStone, etc any day.

Better than paying $7 for an over hopped, oak smoked, seasonal pumpkin spiced butterscotch porter from the bishop's arsehole brewing company.

Except Miller, that's garbage.

The vast majority of microbreweries are very over rated and very over priced. People lap that crap up so I can't really blame the breweries.

my buddy and i are experimenting with lambics and sours with varied results. i've been to lost coast. it's a sweet set up and great beer. i would much prefer to drink micros or mine own, but sometimes it tis cost prohibitive. i for one lament the death of the british pub more than american macrobreweries sold abroad
