Let's just win & win big.....

My guy is telling me to lay the points.

I see their "fans" are latching onto the great idea that...because our team has been better than them in the past- we will therefore win this next game too.

Er...if that gives them confidence, great.

I despise bad mouthing a school- so hopefully our people avoid that- even if some of their's cannot. The reality is, over the last several years, they have had a better football team...perhaps tempered by the fact that the past five years were some of the worst ever by Memphis.

This next game will be played by- pay attention Middle kids, this year's teams. No idea based on a very limited sample which team is better- although I suspect the last three seasons have seen Memphis increase each year and Middle decrease a bit. At this moment, Memphis likely has better players- which certainly guarantees nothing.

With all that- while Memphis football history has been fairly mediocre at best, we do have more of those historic big wins than Middle will ever have. Southern Cal, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Tennessee and more. But none of that history means anything in this particular game- but I suspect the fairly pleasant but incredibly irrelevant on the national sports scene MTSU will begin to lag behind...

Yes I am sure the same giggling very small base of fans will continue to yuk it up over there as though gee look at those silly cocky Memphis fans with little to be cocky about- but- we have incredibly strong basketball tradition and for one of those "lousy" teams, a fairly rich bunch of big college football wins.

In other words, if you get wadded because some Memphis fans on Memphis board post- egads- that Memphis will kill 'em...maybe you should get less sensitive.

Unless I am missing something- the entirety of Middle's big wins in their history- and yes Middle fans we know you have not played D1 football that long and we know you have been beating Memphis, especially during this painfully bad five year stretch...is..

2 wins over Maryland
3 wins over Vandy
That is it.

Not counting the Southern Misses and the Louisvilles of the world...Memphis has:

1 win over Alabama
3 wins over Arkansas
2 wins over Auburn
1 win over Florida
6 wins over Florida State
1 win over Georgia Tech
10 wins over Mississippi
10 wins over Mississippi State
1 win over Mizzou
2 wins over South Carolina
1 win over Southern Cal
1 win over Tennessee
5 wins over Vandy

Either way, the two best college football teams in Tennessee will be playing each other this weekend. Lol@ utk and vandycandy. I have no hate for middle. My in state hate is reserved for the unwashed butt chug masses. Beat middle, hate them? Nah
