Looking back it's funny now but I had "issues" after watching the original "The Blob" with Steve McQueen and the remake "Son of Blob/Beware! The Blob." I was around 7 or 8 and had trouble sleeping thinking the ooze was going to come out of the air vents to envelop and dissect me. Lord forbid going near a sink to brush my teeth or wash my hands and the red jello of death makes an attack from the sink drain!!! No joke, it took me months to recover.

'The Legend of Boggy Creek'. I remember moving my bed as far away from the windows as I could after I watched this. Pretty much ended my Cub Scout campouts also.

i don't recall the name, but i was about three or four years old and living on an air force base in minot, north dakota. all i remember from the movie was a dude (in some war which involved airplanes) lying on his back on a surgeon's table in outer space. i couldn't lie on my back until i was in high school

The Wizard of Oz. Between the Witch and those Flying Monkeys I couldn't sleep for a week. It took 10 years to get up the nerve to watch it again on TV.

I extricated a guy at a car wreck that had a piece of metal impaled into his brain through his eye socket. That traumatized me. I can never forget that. The image is burned into my brain.

I guess you're going to tell us you got right back in a canoe and hit the rapids in Georgia after you saw Deliverance? 04-chairshot

Wasn't close to the river. I was a movie buff as a kid and made my own movies. I understood movies were not real.

Near the when Fishburn's character is asked "Can you see?" go frame by frame on a DVD or blueray when the images flash through his mind. I was 20 I think when that came out, but it's still disturbing.

Me too! The whispered voice "Billy" ugh. I am creeped out now thinking about it.

But as stupid as this is the movie that traumatized me as a young child was the 1954 version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

There was one, and I can't remember the name, but it was like a series of stories... One of them involved a group of kids that trapped several adults. One of the kids had one eye, and they hooked up an adult to a machine and tried to do an eye transplant.. I can remember it clearly. This was over 20 years ago.

Jurassic Park came out when I was 5 and my dad took me to a late showing. Had a few dreams after that.

I was a big Stephen King fan until that book came out. It was one of the most boring, long winded, "how many words can I fit between two covers" books ever written. Ever since that came out I lost all interest in his work. But I will say The Shining was quite spooky, excellent even.

As a child mark me down also for the Shining. Those twin sisters freaked me out as well as the lady in Room 237. The book was excellent by the way and also scared the bejeebus out of me.

As an adult, "Event Horizon" was the most disturbing movie I have seen. I was in my late 20s when I saw the movie and it made me feel like I was a little kid again. I couldn't soundly sleep for a couple days afterwards.

Pet Sematary (1989)
Cujo (1983)
Creepshow 2 (1987) "Thanks for the ride, LADY!"
Sleepaway Camp (1983) The ending scene of that movie is the traumatic part.
