GT vs Tennessee 2017
http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/college/t...omp/ng9Nj/

AJC reporting that a deal is getting closer for GT and Tennessee to play in the Chickfila Kickoff on Labor Day 2017. It would be in the Falcon's new stadium which opens that year.

GT and Tenn have played 43 times, but haven't played since 1987. It's good to see these old match ups brought back to life. I was sad when GT and Alabama agreed to indefinitely postpone their upcoming series.

The interesting thing is if this happens; GT would be scheduled to play 3 SEC teams that year (Tenn, Ole Miss, UGA). I personally would love to see it, but not so sure the decision makers would let it happen and would wind up postponing the Ole Miss game.

Those would be some great games, if true.

I love the ACC getting these Chic-Fil-A games as Louisville has theirs vs. Auburn in 2015.

If so your welcome.

2016 is when the Chick-fil-a folks wanted Clemson to play in their game. Instead we went after a H&H with Auburn.

Yes, they definitely had Clemson as their #1 choice.

According to fbschedules.com, the Ole Miss game is scheduled for 9/9/2017. So if we played Tenn on Labor Day that would only give us 5 days rest.

The Chickfila Peach Bowl Committee wants to host 3 games that opening week in the new stadium (Thursday, Saturday, and Monday). If they put us on Thursday or Saturday, then we could still keep Ole Miss as originally planned.

Ha seriously. They are going to take Florida State over Clemson if they have the shot at it.

I'll believe it when I see it on this. Georgia/FSU was supposed to happen in 2015 but Georgia has no marbles. South Carolina is another SEC team so I'll believe they play FSU when the contract is signed.

Had 2016 happened it would have been Clemson's third appearance in Atlanta for the game. How many times has FSU been in it?

Um all that shows is they were talking to Clemson about it.... doesnt mean they would rather have Clemson than Florida State.

FSU isn't in it because the SEC is threatened by them and is scared to schedule them. Clemson doesn't have that problem. Probably because one of the mid tier SEC teams beats them down every year in the "rivalry" game.

Funny how that works. Between FSU and Clemson there's only one team with back to back wins over Top 10 ranked SEC teams. <hint it ain't FSU>

You bring up South Carolina, but fail to mention the fact that we are riding current winning streaks against Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn.

Maybe instead of "SEC teams being afraid of FSU" (03-lmfao one undefeated season and the Noles are world beaters again 03-lmfao) what the Chick-fil-a folks want is electric fanbases. You know, the ones like Clemson has and FSU wishes it had.

Quote:“One thing I’d like to challenge our fans for, is just to be able to make it one of those hostile environments like it was back in the day. Clemson was the loudest place I’ve ever played in and I’d like to challenge our fans to be back at that type of basis one day.”

RE: GT vs Tennessee 2017
SEC teams avoid FSU at all turns but schedule Clemson because they are a tier below as an overall program and not as intimidating..

What is the winning streak for you? 1 game?

FSU has a winning streak vs South Carolina and Auburn then too. They won the last meeting vs them... Florida as well (an actual streak too)

National champions does make them world beaters. Maybe once you get by the middle of the SEC, you guys can contend someday too.

So if the reason for FSU not being in the game right now being FSU is so great why wasn't FSU in the game from 2008-2013? It wasn't like y'all were world beaters.

FSU has been trying to schedule teams like Georgia for years in the SEC and they have been turned away. The 2015 game was all set and then Georgia pussed out making FSU get South Florida as their 2nd "big" OOC games.

Anyone following scheduling as a whole knows it has happened for years now.

Good lord people...

FSU was trying to get someone to come to Orlando in 2016, with Atlanta the backup. Doesn't look like they could convince anyone to agree to what would be a FSU home game, so Atlanta is what it'll appear to be.

Maybe FSU should get Penn State to play them in the Georgia Dome...
