I disagree completely.

I feel East Carolina and Cincinnati are slightly tougher to play against with packed crowds.

I think in most years ECU would be #1. Phil Steele explains that the 2nd category of the ranking is based on 2013 attendance. We had a pretty amazing year last year and drove attendance up for some games that wouldn't have been as popular. Also, we had the excitement of playing in a new conference.

UCF is 20-5 at home since 2010.

I'd say that's a fairly strong statement for home field advantage.

The record is 26-6 if you go back to 2009 as well.

That's pretty good for us right now. This article is clearly assessing our standing versus current teams and not looking too far into the past, but we've come a long way from pre-2007.

True, but you have to admit that we struggle to hit the stadium capacity. How many sell outs have we had?

I just feel like ECU more consistently hits their stadium capacity and has more sell outs than we do.

Cincinnati will be the obvious, clear choice for #1 once we return back to Nippert Stadium in the 2015 season. The ratings for this year are inconsequential...07-coffee3

Ecu has been around a lot longer. I think we have done just fine. When we play on tv and bigger names people start to care. The OCs helps loads. Give us 10 years keeping everything constant. Ie graduation rate and alumni attendance penetration and in 11 years we should be up to 70k

You can't knock the steel makeup of our stadium and not give credit for the benefits that it offers at the same time people.

The direct effect that our home crowd has had on game outcomes has been well-documented over the years. I'm confident that every time a coach, player or ESPN broadcaster has commented that 3 UCF fans ran here to post about it so I won't bother looking stuff up. But it is what it is.

TampaKnight, we've got plenty of over zealous fans but you seem to be on a mission to overcompensate. Noticed this over a long haul of threads. I may be wrong but I want to say I remember you even pushing for us to stay in CUSA on here a fee years ago?

RE: Phil Steele: Best Home Field Advantage in the AAC
I know that the size of Yulman Stadium on Tulane's campus isn't going to scare anyone, but the seats are right on top of the field. We'll see how it all plays out, but it appears to have the potential to be a loud and raucous home field.

I'm admittedly naive about SOME of the other teams in the conference. But I've always thought ECU does one heck of a job with their fan base and game day experience. Their "Purple Haze" intro is one of my favorite in sports. OK, I'm a Hendrix fan! I can only hope Tulane comes up with something equally as motivating, that fires up both the players and the crowd. I wished they commissioned Dr. John to write a piece of music specific for that purpose. Heck, if he can write a good tune for Curious George, he can do it for the University that gave him an honorary doctorate!

For those of you not familiar with Dr. John, here you go: http://www.nitetripper.com/

Back to home field advantage!

Less than a week until we open!

ROLL WAVE!

Who is your team?

You don't show it in your posting profile, and have an innocuous name. Not everyone here takes notes on this poster roots for that team and that guy roots for this team. Why not update your profile?

If your team is good and wins you have a home field advantage. If you are bad and lose then you have a bad home field advantage.

+1

I'm convinced he's either a fake UCF fan or is just doing it for the rep points. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Welcome to the board. Once you're here for a few more months, you'll begin to learn everyone's alliances.
