OT: ISIS holding UCF graduate in beheading video
This is an awful post but it was just confirmed that the most recent ISIS video shows them beheading a journalist captured in Syria, and they then threaten and show another captive journalist, Steven Sotloff, who is a UCF graduate and from Miami.
Some reports say he's already been beheaded while others say it's imminent.
Awful.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Should have stepped on the gas instead of the breakes when we crossed the Euphrates river. Then made a hard left and finshed the job.

I will never support invading another land without provocation... but in this case, I might just change my mind. Some people just need to be killed, plain and simple.
They are nothing more than animals.

If we bomb ISIS enough, the Kurds should push them back. We shouldn't need to put any of our "ground troops" in. And yes, I am sure we already have plenty of special forces there already.

Just about every ethnic and regilous group over there is fighting. They are killing everyone, not just Christian, Jews and Shia Muslims and Kurds, but Sunnis as well. The Kurds are the best organized right now and have even taken back some areas from them including the Mosul Dam.
They are threaten to kill him is the President doesn't with draw US forces from Iraq. I hope Seal Team 6 is on their way over and they have some idea of where he is. Though I don't think this will turn out good, hate to say it. But, I fear as others do, he is either dead already or will be shorty before we can find him and mount a rescue.
Not going to get into the politics of the issues in thread, it is not needed here. Only prayers for Steven.

This is what happens when the guy that walked softly but carried the big stick decides to shrink his stick and walk away, and then let everyone know they have no intention of walking back.
When the cats away the mouse will kill, behead, and bury people alive.

I will say this, I would deploy these over there,
It wouldn't take long, that last time they were widely used over there this was the result,

There is no need for this in this thread, and in any case it didn't stop them before, remember all the beheading in Afghanistan and Iraq before? I haven't forgot. Nick Berg and a lot of others 2003-present. It never really stopped.

Fine, you can take my sister's place, I don't want to lose her to that place,,that will never have a stable government for more than 50 years, never should have gone into Iraq in the first place. as bad as Saddam was (and was as bad as Stalin if not worse) he did keep a lid on that powder keg.

Easy for you to say, you're not the one who will be deployed.

Look I hope your sister stays out of harms way but she knows what she signed up for. So did my dad four of my uncles and my cousin who all served in Iraq during various campaigns. War should always be the last resort but using a10's do not provide the stability needed to foster a political solution. It's the lesson of ww2 Vietnam etc. whether we should be there or not is another question.

See the next post. My wife served as well. The bottom line is a10s do not provide solutions. Boots on the ground do. People and materiel can hide from everything we can throw at them. If you go to war you have to have boots on the ground period. I didn't say that was what we should do.

Arm the kurds. They are about the only American friendly group in that region.

Isreal... I say supply both and let them fight their way to hand shakes in the middle. Kurds from the east and Isreal from the west.
