New MAC Media Agreement Moves MAC to 8 to 10 Million a Year
Although the continuation of the MAC’s deal with ESPN in no way rivals the mega-TV deals of SEC, Big Ten and other major conferences, it does favorably position the MAC ahead of other members of the Group of Five (the American, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt and MAC).

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ision-deal

EDIT--
The latest tweets from McMurphy indicate the new MAC deal bumps them to 8 million a year (666K a school) and then jumps to 10 million a year in the last 10 years of the contract (833K per school). That's a significant bump over thier current roughly 100K per school deal.

It should also be noted that the article above that I quoted has been edited twice. Once to indicate that MAC deal is ahead of some G5 members (originally said ahead of THE G5 members) and later it was edited again to make it clear the MAC's new deal just pulled them into a range similar to the othe G5 schools.

This article is very void of details. I'm doubting it.

I'll save everyone the hassle of clicking this link.

There's no information on money, nor what channels the MAC will appear on, nor how often. No primetime mentions, no games of the week, no "MAC-tion Mondays" or whatever. Nothing. Just that the deal has been extended 10 years.

RE: Did The MAC Just Pass the AAC---New MAC Media Agreement
There are no details on money---just a statement that I quoted indicating that the new contract places them ahead of all the rest of the G5. That's why the thread title is a question. The MAC tied themselves to a 13 year agreement--so it is possible they did surpass our present income. They only have to reach 2 million each to beat our current deal. Thirteen years from now, 2 million a team would be pretty darn cheap. By 2026, we could be may be making 5-10 million a school (maybe more). Lets see what the numbers are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they beat our current payout.

Per Dodd
MAC's new 13-year ESPN deal reported by Jeremy Fowler includes final 3 years of current deal and 10-year extension.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because the deal was still being completed and did not reveal financial details.
The MAC has three years left on its current eight-year deal with ESPN that pays the conference about $1 million per year.

Unless their deal increased 20 fold , their deal is not more than the AAC's

Wrong. It states " it does favorably position the MAC ahead of other members of the Group of Five (the American, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt and MAC). Which is terribly missleading. The Contract the AAC signed was for less years and more money. The new extension could be $1.00 more then the AAC and they'd write this BS. Facts or leave it in the internet trash heap. 07-coffee3

Am I reading that right that the previous deal was worth $1mill per year for the conference? If that is correct then if they went from $1 million for the entire conference to getting $2millon + per team with this new deal....the AAC is about to see serious dough. IMO.

Not how I read that.

Just said "it does favorably position the MAC ahead of other members of the Group of Five" then went on to explain what the G5 consists of (for those living under a rock).

Does not say they are the top dog in TV now.

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN ·26 mins
MAC & @ESPN rewrite media rights deal, extends new deal thru 2026-27. Tops old deal worth $1M/year

So.."more than 1 million per year". Could be 1.1M or could be 1.5M, we don't know yet.

Are we sure it's for the entire conference, if so, the author of that article MUST immediately be brought to the town square to be tarred and feathered.

Correct. If they are ahead of the Sun Belt and CUSA, they are ahead of other members. It did not say ahead of ALL of "G5" members. So we know it's ahead of some other members, and it's more than 1 M. That's all we know.

The article says just $1M per year. Not necessarily PER TEAM.

If true then it's still pennies compared to the AAC deal.

yes it's 1 million for the entire conference now. Not per team

or as this article states its $1.4 million now for the entire conference or little over 100k per team

http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-football/2...tract-espn

yes this is dated 2013, but for purposes of MAC discussion it's accurate
