What? Did we put out a sign come to the Sun Belt board and brag about your conference.
Can't wait for the SEC fans to come over, they might actually have some good arguments to
make.

Who's bragging? Other than Heart of Dixie bragging on Idaho and NMSU having the potential to be #1 in their home states?

Well, FAU did have their way with USF and FIU last year. Making FAU either the fourth or fifith best team in the state for 2013.
So... Yeah. You'll have to pick something else to justify your blatant, extreme, and unwarranted butthurt.

Small dreams and small minds...MTSU
BTW, just about everybody considers the MWC to be head and shoulders above CUSA.
The MWC is better than CUSA and the Sun Belt, but not because of UNM and Wyoming.
If it really mattered, why doesn't the MWC invite North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Montana? Imagine the power of the MWC then!
#1 program in:
Hawaii
Idaho
Montana
Nevada
New Mexico
North Dakota
South Dakota
Wyomng
That's eight states in which they'd have the #1 program, I'm not even sure the SEC can top that depending who you consider tops in Florida and South Carolina, but those invites would guarantee the MWC being at least the #2 conference in the country.
The good news is, I've found a way for us to finally settle the debate over who's better out of CUSA and the Sun Belt. I've already e-mailed Britton Banowsky and linked this thread to him so he could see how important state #1s are and instructed him to invite Brown, Dartmouth, Delaware, and Maine and I'm making it my personal mission to get Vermont to restart their football program so we can invite them as well.
You may have two schools in Idaho and NMSU who have the potential to be #1 in their state, we're about to pick up four #1 programs, five if I can convince Vermont.
Your move Sun Belt(maybe you could grab the #1 program in Alaska, they'd be a bit out of our footprint, but perhaps a good travel partner for Idaho).
You might actually be on to something here. Collectively, those eight states have 16 US senators. That would make for a heck of a voting bloc on issues concerning fair treatment of G-5 schools in their states. If they could recruit a little help from the senators of states that have no P-5 conference members, they could cause the P-5 some serious misery. New Hampshire, Vermont, Delaware, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticutt, and Alaska, are seven more states that have no P-5 representative. That means a total of 15 states have no P-5 conference members. It seems to me that 30% of the US Senate could get the attention of the P-5 conference commissioners PDQ.

Still wondering how the hell we got in this conversation? Florida has the DEEPEST and RICHEST talent pool in all of college recruiting and we are in its backyard. Both schools have potential and have yet to have a true breakout season but both have won the SBC crown in only a few years of existence.
I have no doubts that FAU will never be one of the top 3 programs in the state. That lies with FSU, UF, and Miami. However it is CERTAINLY possible that we could become the 4th best team easily.
And this has NOTHING to do with the SBC so I cant even understand why we were brought into the discussion. The SBC was a good home for FAU but once FIU was gone we just didnt fit geographically in anyway.

Not getting into the whole "FAU/FIU sucks or rules" thing, but where did you come across the information that Florida has the deepest and richest talent pool?
Cause... as a Texan... I mightily disagree with you.

Florida, Georgia, Texas, California. That's where the talent is.
One can argue D1 players per capita, overall numbers, NFL numbers, but there's no arguing that's where the talent is.

Talent per capita throw Texas, Florida, California, and Georgia in a hat and draw them out in any order and you won't be far off.

You crazy folks.... You claim superiority over Texas on something quantifiable, and you GOTTA know we're gonna balk at it.
Anyway, the few metrics I've looked at clearly has Texas number 1. Granted, Florida is number 2, but it's always... TEXAS NUMBER 1!

Texas is only number one because it is the size of 3 states.
"Perhaps most noteworthy, the states with the most players per capita are: Louisiana (1 NFL player per 73,119 people), South Carolina (1 per 85,655), Mississippi (1 per 92,728), Alabama (1 per 99,578), Florida (1 per 101,082), Georgia (1 per 101,975) and Montana (1 per 109,935)."

And another study based on college recruits with similar results.
"for every 54,488 people in Louisiana there is one high school DI signee. Louisiana happens to be 25th in state population but is number one based on the number of DI prospects it produces per total population of state."

I knew someone from TXST would chime in about that, and yes Texas is probably number one, but FL is a close second. Its debatable either way IMHO. However THAT is a debate for an entirely different thread.

Oh, so we are number 1 then.....
Or does that mean that we should put an asterisk next to the National Champions ranking because they have a bigger budget than most others?
Number 1 is number 1 is number 1. Trying to discount it because of this or that is silly.

Splitting hairs between Texas, California, Florida and Georgia. Take pride in the sheer volume, I'll take pride in Georgia being right up there despite being a fourth the size of California, a third the size of Texas and half the size of Florida.

I would think the number of D1 football recruits would be more relevant than NFL players for this discussion.

what is the greatest level of football played at?
where do people get paid to play football?
if you answer those questions as sec you should be banned from the board even though it's funny.
any time i can find a stat that shows texas they ain't number one i'll go with it. don't get me wrong. great state. i've visited it many times. if not for texans it'd be even better.
