I call BS there. For schools our size, conference affiliation, where we're located, and with our recent on-the-field history, I think we have about average attendance. You guys on the other hand.............

Okay, I was wrong. The Cajun program is actually on a par with the average attendance of the Mountain West and well above peer conferences such as C-USA and the MAC. The Belt should easily pass C-USA this year as East Carolina's 44,000 is lost.

2013 Average Attendance by Conference

American 33,712
Mountain West 26,080
Conference USA 21,510
Sun Belt 19,859
Mid-American 16,739

Cajuns 25,976
Tulane 19,747 (and pigs can fly)

Didn't you admit that Tulane only put 5 - 10 K in the Superdome? Your new field only sits 25,000! So by your logic, Tulane's goal is to lock in low attendance? For a school that claims to be a second tier school to the Ivy League colleges, you guys are not that good at Math. BTW that 26K number is BS. I've walked through the gates at Cajun Field many of times without my ticket being scanned and there was such a mass of people, a clicker couldn't have possibly kept up.

Read all of this thread and I'm still trying to figure out how a school using their original seal on some seats is "Feeling the heat", especially when it's Tulane and the last thing they'd want to do is get in a name pissing contest with a school at the academic level of the Cajuns (or Tech, or ULM, or USA, before any of you get pissy)

Their claim to fame is academia.

It's the fact that there claiming to be thee University of Louisiana. They officially became a private institution and change there name to Tulane University. Why would you change or put a seal saying University of Louisiana if Tulane didn't feel threaten by our recent success.

The University of Louisiana name is a touchy subject. Tulane isn't the 'University of Louisiana' as the seal is intended to suggest, in spite of some historical name.

Sorry our institution doesn't go around changing a bunch of **** for the hell of it. It's our seal. We're proud of our history. We're proud that we were the University of Louisiana. We're proud to be Tulane University of Louisiana. We're proud to be Tulane. Sorry the brand we've carried since the 19th century strikes fear into your little name game.

The only people I see feeling threatened are the ones starting threads about Tulane on their own conference's board and it is getting real old, real fast.

Doesn't it say "Tulane University of Louisiana"? How would that be different than " Troy University of Alabama"?

Tulane University...of Louisiana is how I read it.

I just took a better look at it. I didn't see it say Tulane. My bad.

Choosing not to use their seal is kind of interesting still. The Cajuns talking about it isn't out of nowhere.

UL carried the name of the University of Louisiana as well, if only briefly.

They were not sayin they were thee University of Louisiana, I agree with that part. Its just Tulane University... of Louisiana. I was just answering why it was posted, and what the issue was.

I might of walked into a ****ing contest. UL can claim sports all they want. Tulane is an academic institution and a private institution, and is the best academic school in the state, sports is like 3rd on there priority list.

Which is how should be. In Louisiana the stadium goes up before the school.

They changed their name from the University of Louisiana to Tulane University of Louisiana in 1884. Hence the name on the seal. You ULL guys are too much

Yes at one time Tulane was the University of Louisiana before it was Tulane that is what I was trying to say. Going private was the best thing for Tulane, specially knowing how the politics operate in this great state.

Wasn't Tulane a name for a famous doctor?

All you peeps take a deep breath.

Now, I ask, before the name issue arose with the Cajun program, how many times did anyone here EVER hear a Tulane student, fan, faculty member, whatever claim they were the first University of Louisiana?

For me, NEVER. It was always Tulane University.....mas nada.

So, why on their message boards and now on the very seats in their cozy stadium are they....The Tulane University of Louisiana?

Just by chance I imagine.03-lmfao

And we had a bad year...when we have a good season (like 2004) we can average over 41,000 (41,175 to be exact)

So this will be the year?

Yep. This is the year they win 4 games instead of 2.

We would still beat ASU, though :-)
