RE: Paulson Stadium Expansion Camera Feed
In related news, they are supposed to have the inside of the FOC completely finished and operational by Monday morning when the coaches show up.
Putting the finishing touches on everything this weekend. Including last minute wiring, decals, filling the therapy pools with water, etc.

Amen, they made their bed. I would rather have a MoSt or EKU type with tons of growth potential than a JMU that is solid but probably will never change much and top out pretty quickly.

The inside of the FOC is coming together nicely. I wish I knew how to upload these pictures.

Looks very nice. They are going to seriously have to bust it to get the Field of Dreams done.

Do they seriously complain about that? Their academic profile fits with the rest of the Sunbelt. Hell, their acceptance rate is higher than Southern's.
I dont know how they could turn their nose up..they only offer 34 masters programs and a paltry 8 phd...and with only a few hundred international students they seem pretty regional. maybe they would drag US down...

I also love that GASO (is that acceptable?) is retaining real grass. I know it may not be as flashy as painted turf but I think it's nicer and I assume you can keep it growing and greener later in the season in Statesboro.

Well technically, we can't win an NCAA National Championship in football anymore, so it makes sense for the case to be full.

We're holding onto it for now, but the field is due to be resodded within a few years I believe. At that point we may switch over to turf. There's been talks about it for sure. With the football facility being at the stadium now, it would let the team practice on the field right outside of the buidling, as well as the new practice facility in the back of the parking lot (when it gets moved over). Also, we've had some disease issues in the last 5-6 years with the grass, one year we couldn't even paint the endzones because the grass was in such bad shape. I'd love to stick to real grass, and it's a great surface. I just don't think it's in the cards permanently though.

I think the field is missing Roger Inman, he kept that field in top-notch shape

The disease problem happened while he was still on staff I believe. Sometimes that just happens, nothing you can do about it. I think he also serves as a consultant for the guys taking care of the field.

Roger, does have a consulting position......Roger was the last of Erk's staff to retire or leave the GS football program.....When I was a student-manager, he was 1 of the team's bus drivers & did the fields....prior to that he was the original Football equipment manager under Erk.....great guy

No reason to ever switch to turf in South Georgia. Football is played on grass.

It would be interesting to see some data on foot/ankle/knee injuries on grass vs turf. Just to see if there is there is any statistical significance.

Would switching to turf at Paulson eliminate the need to create a separate practice field next to the stadium or is more than one field needed? With the football operations center located at the stadium, we may have to switch to turf for that reason.

It's already been talked about. I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen within 5 years.

I wouldn't want to play where I practiced. There needs to be an element of "game day" excitement for the players IMO. Don't want it to be too routine if that makes sense.
