I haven't seen all sunbelt marching bands perform, so my info is very limited, but here it goes

In 2010, Georgia State University established its first ever Marching Band. In only four years of existence, the band is over 200 members strong and has received much national attention. Most notably, the GSU marching band was selected to perform in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. The GSU Winter Guard is the reigning National Champions for Winter Guard International (WGI), which is the national championship for independant and collegiate colorguards. The GSU marching band will perform at the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is one of the most prestigious parades in the nation. The band is a drum corps style unit that focuses on precision musicality and movement. Like most ensembles, the band features a colorguard section, but in a departure from typical marching bands, the traditional auxiliary front sideline percussion section, or pit, has been replaced by a four-piece rock band consisting of a lead guitar, bass guitar, drum set, and keyboard synthesizer.

See I didn't know all of that. Well GSU stock went up a couple of points, again based on limited intel and personal opinion i would put GSU at 9 behind USA and in front of Idaho.

Lol it's ok. Our football may suck right now, but our band is one of the best. It is one of the few things that we have been able to have pride in during the football season.
In a way I'm going to miss those games, been going to them since the mid 70', but it's time to move on. Good luck to you guys! How can App fans NOT pull for a team known as ASU that wears Black & Gold?

I would not put ga state that low... Not even close. They have one of the better programs in the SBC.... USA is too low as well.
And not trying to be mean. But ga southern is not 3rd lol.
I'm a GaSo fan, but I agree that they shouldn't be ranked that high. It seems to me they're improving, but I wouldn't put them third. I would also put App State and Georgia State higher. As GSU's numbers grow, they'll become a real force.
As an alum of one Ohio Valley Conference school as well as GaSo, THIS IS WHY I WISH JSU WAS IN THE SUN BELT! This conference would be one of the strongest in the country in terms of marching bands if you added the Marching Southerners to the mix. Also, I'm sure that the old JSU-Troy rivalry would reconstitute itself pretty quickly. It was a great one.

Sooooo... GaState has a keytar player? Maybe? Time to sit back, pop open a can of Tab, set my VCR to record Dallas, and enjoy halftime in the Dome!
After coming from a high school where band is frowned upon and we'd typically have around 10-15 members in it, seeing TXST's band for the first time was something of a revelation for me.

Georgia Southern's band has a good resume but not enough for 3rd place sadly. Also, Georgia State's band is way better than last place. I would stick us both in the middle somewhere.

I may be partial by I think the Jaguar Marching Band should rank around 2nd-3rd. Here are a couple inside the Superdome...

I kinda felt bad for Tulane that day. It was their honor band day and their band had less than 100 people in it (85 according to Wikipedia). USA had the better band and had more fans in the Superdome than Tulane. It was a good day to be a Jag though.
