Georgia Southern Refreshes Coke Deal
http://news.georgiasouthern.edu/2014/07/...hing-deal/

Quote:Coca-Cola also will develop customized marketing initiatives to further expand the University’s
brand recognition in the Savannah and Atlanta markets as part of Coca-Cola’s regional football marketing campaign.

Anyone else in the SBC have a similar deal with a vendor?

I've heard of some schools that have their team's schedule on bottles, or on cups at restaurants.

Curious to see what else is out there, and what we can expect.

We have a deal with them as well. They did some commemorative glass bottles for us and promotional sponsor giveaways at games. Unfortunately in Atlanta it is a crap shoot. The cups and bottles are mixed in with promotions with the Braves, Falcons, Tech, UGA, Delta, us and now y'all. It will probably be a great thing for you guys south of 285 though.

I feel like the scholarship part is the most important part of this deal with Coke.

We have a ton of alumni north of 285, so I suspect it will be a great thing up there as well.

I didn't mean it like that. City and north is where the majority of the population lie, and that is where the other brands who are higher on the totem pole like the Braves, Falcons, etc. have the majority of the co-branding.

We switched from Pepsi to Coke a few years ago and I swear some of our fans rioted.

Even though the soft drink contracts are good for the schools would prefer to have both Coke and Pepsi
and just sign an agreement with Jim Beam.

I think Pepsi was an option this last go round, but Coke upped the ante.

Had we switched to Pepsi like it was rumored, there would have been riots.

This is the South, especially in Georgia, you drink Coke. We also refer to any carbonated soft drink as a 'coke'.

Now GoApps... we have been on the opposite sides of many subjects... but this is a party line we agree on.

Could we have an official bourbon of the Sun Belt? Maybe each school has an official bourbon?

Yes just let Jack and Jim get into a bidding war over the official bourbon of the Sun Belt conference.

Don't just leave it up to Jack and Jim. I have done quite a lot of research on this subject. Jack, Jim, Evan, George, Makers, Four Roses(personal favorite), Bulleit... this isn't a matter to take lightly.(I know. I know. Jack and George are Tennessee Whiskeys, but no need to stereotype, because stereotyping is wrong.) There should be tastings neat, and tastings with mixers, and tastings with a splash of branch, and tastings on the rocks... tours of facilities. This is not a decision to be taken so lightly it is automatically down to two.

I think it is safe to say the non-official official beer of Georgia Southern is Eagle Creek beer!

As for official beer for the SBC, I'd go with Sweetwater 420.

Let's make the SBC the party conference!

Some Woodford Reserve, Jefferson, or Knob Creek would be nice. However, we can't be mixing it with any of those soda pop thingys. Neat is the way to go.

Agreed. I am neat or on the rocks. Depends on the day. FYI... if you are in Vegas you can request Knob Creek at the tables/slots with no upcharge at Caesars. I was playing $20 bucks in some digital roulette game for hours. I definitely got the better end of that deal.
