He's a good guy, but he doesn't put enough discipline into the program. Every year they lose good players due to arrests. Even this year they lost a few on defense... They just can't seems to put it all together. And fall short every year... I think this year they have a less than expected year and they let him go.

A lot of Georgia fans feel this way.

The overwhelming majority of Georgia fans love Richt, it'salmost entirely the Wal Mart Georgia fans have him on the hot seat. Some more serious fans may be disappointed that during Richt's tenure that four different SEC teams have won a title and they haven't even played for one, but no way, no how do you even consider firing a coach with his resume.


Averaging just under 10 wins a season

The most division titles in the east since taking over(tied with LSU for most in the conference in that time)

12-1 against Tech, 9-4 against Tennessee, 8-5 against Auburn, 5-8 against Florida

His record against Florida isn't great until you compare it to his two predecessors Donnan(1-4) and Goff(1-6). They've won three straight against the Gators for the first time in 20+ years.

They'll be much improved this year on D with the hire of Pruitt and Todd Gurley may be the best back in the country, IF they can get to the dome at 11-1 they have a great shot at making it to the playoff this year regardless of how the game turns out.

My family is full of Dawgs and I would love to see them win one while my father is still alive, which at 70 and battling lung cancer(fortunately doing well currently) I'm not sure how many football seasons he has left.

I think he is safe for at least this year, bar a meltdown of 2-10.

I think Hoke is done after this year. I think Pelini at Nebraska is going to make his last stand this year as well.

I can't think of any Sun Belt coaches that are on the hotseat this year barring something terrible happening off the field. Don't follow the other G5 conferences enough to have an opinion.

Muschamp for sure. Florida needs a big turnaround or he won't make December.

Mark Richt is a consistent second tier coach. If they get rid of him, the next coach will struggle badly at first and could be the next Derek Dooley.

Mike London at UVA is a goner. He had two years at Richmond with another coaches recruits and bolted for Charlottesville. He wasn't ready for it.

Frank Beamer is another at VT. Attendance is going down, they're no longer selling out and he's been unable to break through a weak division. He's not a bad coach, but it might just be time, especially with a new AD in charge.

They've won 30 games, a division title, and gone 11-1 against Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and Tech in the three years since and their 8-5 season last year was largely the fault of departed DC Todd Grantham.

I'll grant you he might not survive another 6-6, but with the Pruitt hire, the state of the SEC east/Tech, I just don't see it happening.

Given the "any given Saturday" cliche, I don't see anyone outside of South Carolina and Auburn as real threats, maybe Clemson.

And in fairness every program in the country is living in the shadow of Alabama and there are very few that aren't in the shadow of LSU.

Jimbo Fisher probably isn't helping matters, had FSU struggled mightily after pushing Bowden out that might give VT pause, but VT is a very good job, not FSU good, but they could attract a very good coach. Kirby Smart? Jeremy Pruitt? Chad Morris? Rhett Lashlee? Brent Pease? Maybe they turn it over to Bud Foster.

Point is, VT is a good job, far better than it was when Beamer took it.

I'll also add Larry Blakeney to the list.... I don't think I would call it losing his job tho... I think he retires. And not necessarily because Troy makes him retire.

agree about Beamer, they might not be ready to show him the door, but if they don't start making some BCS bowls soon, they are going to have a tough decision on what to do with the coach who built their program.
