C-USA and SunBelt football get no love from USA Today
9. C-USA: The league as a whole is still one of the nation's weakest.

10. SunBelt: It would be an insult to pond scum to put this league in the same class.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca.../12613255/

Okay, they really didn't say that about the Belt, but could have.

Georgia Southern lumped into nations worst? Writer has 0 clue. How can they be the worst at something they haven't done yet? They were one of the best FCS teams.

More fuel for everyone.

It is all the fault of Western Ky. If they weren't such bottom feeders then both leagues would be better.

Little known fact: For years WKU has sucked basketball money out of the SunBelt and the rest of the league's programs. If it weren't for WKU, the SunBelt would be a basketball powerhouse.

Little know fact in 1990 Western was in the same boat S. Miss fans feel they are in today...

left behind in a conference because other schools were located in better markets some of those schools that left us behind are in C-USA. Our fans complained and whined and cried like a little girl..

just like S. Miss

One difference...we still played the game and won on the court went to the NCAA Tourney 10 times, won few games, and 16 out of those 24 years won 20+ games

took us 24 more years to switch conferences

Also put 7 million dollars in the pocket of the SBC since 2008

RE: C-USA and SunBelt football get no love from USA Today
Seems reasonable to me.

CUSA doesn't have much outside the projected top 4 (although I think FAU has the pieces to be a good team too) and the SBC really doesn't have much this year outside their top two. USA and Troy will probably be decent, but Idaho, Georgia State, and NMSU are just terrible.

App State had a pretty poor season last year, I'd be shocked to see them move up a level and rebound from the disaster that was last season. GaSo has a new coach on top of moving up a level, so things could be rocky for them this season too.

That's only because teams in the Belt felt sorry for you guys and threw the games. Our newest team last year wasn't with the program and kicked your butts till your noses bled. The Cajuns then finished you off just for good measure because you were leaving.

I agree. As I said when C-USA invited Western, WHY? WKU is in a small market, has a small football stadium, is a directional school, hasn't done anything big in the NCAA Tournament since 2009, and resides in a non-football state. Makes no sense at all.

Some of your fellow conference members might take exception to your characterization of C-USA as worthless crap.05-nono

Might as well cancel the season.....WKU Cannot win 4 games this season due to the USA Today labeling CUSA 9th best conference...

Well that explains why eager said we weren't improving Reed Green to stay in CUSA.

9 C-USA: All leagues are still poor.

10 Sunbelt: League put this in the same class, small pond offensive.

C-USA definitely needs to get better. MT was not a good team last year but the only reason we hit 8 wins was due to C-USA being down.

Here is to both C-USA and MT getting better.

Don't care about the belt....

More like MACsturbation. Seriously, there's no comparison between the MAC and CUSA. The MAC has zero ambition and zero upside. CUSA had a better bowl game and TV contract the day it was created, even though the MAC had been around 50 years. Any credible conference power ranking has the MAC at #10.

The ranking is about the expected performance of the leagues on the field of play, not the bowls and "upside" potential.
