Quiet is kept, the military would welcome an actual budget since it would allow them to focus procurement more narrowly in order to achieve a higher success rate (i.e. 1T spend on the F-35). That being said, the money saved would just be squandered in some other program via administrative overhead.

I agree with you on the wall not being a solution. Not from an un-American POV, just that they don't work. There is something here in the US that people are will to send their children through the desert to obtain. It pains that people feel the need to do so, but it is not as if the US is hoarding the ideas and technology that make it a go to destination.

Congress needs to act. Immigrants were never explicitly told to come to the US. However, just as the "law of unintended consequences" demands, the US saying any child would not be deported and have to go throught the "process" for all intents and purposes made folks in Central America think that was a one way ticket across the border. I think that law was passed under Bush, if I'm not mistaken. Congress needs to change that law, pronto.

You do say something relevant from time to time. Except for the vacuum left by our departures I would agree. Unfortunately it's not as simple as pulling out but I would agree with putting such resources as exist on our southern border.
