I gave him a pass in the first half for having to come in so quick, but he should have been better in the 2nd.

Hopefully Jozy's injury isn't as bad as it looks and he can come back at some point.

Johannsson isn't used to playing with his back to the goal. The loss of Jozy is going to hurt big time.

Pepe is out on a red card. Pereira has a yellow card. We might have been dealt a blow with Jozy's exit, but Portugal is reeling just as much, if not more, as we. This next match on Sunday, obviously, is either our advance to the next round, or go home time. We can get it done, if we'll take care of the possessions.

France looked really good yesterday. Hope we get through. Setting up to be a monster round of 16. Costa Rica looking very impressive too.

Still my pick to win it all this time. BUT there are quite a few surprises. France, from all I'd read and seen, wasn't supposed to be all that, but they're stomping. And I'm so happy for my Tico friends. San José de Costa Rica was rockin' in the streets yesterday afternoon.

Colombia's still looking impressive, and there's a glimmer of hope for U.S. vs. Portugal with Pepe out, Pereira with one yellow and rumors of Ronaldo ailing (though I think that's so much pre-match babel and mind war than truth)....obligatory IMHO.

Forgot to mention Argentina as well. Messi. Their 'struggle' to score against 11 back prevent made for an interesting match, but glad to see them overcome Iran 1-0.

If it really does boil down to a belief system, who believes better? USA or Portugal?

RE: World Cup in Brazil
Well, if A=B and B=C then Sunday's match ought to go well.

Face it, we were outplayed, but came out with a 2-1 win. Germany stomped Portugal, but managed only a 2-2 tie.... So, this group is very wide open!!!
The US just have to believe!!!!

We advance with:

1) a win over Portugal
2) 2 draws

Everything else gets complicated. Need a win tomorrow but any point is a must.

I prefer the win scenario. Too much riding the game to hope to tie and then tie again with Germany. You left off a tie and a loss to Germany then hope Ghana beats Portugal and we stay with in goal differential of Ghana. as of now we are +2. Of if Ghana and Portugal tie and we can maintain goal differential of Portugal. Where we are +5

We need to win today against a beaten up Portugal squad. Germany will need a point next week in our match to advance and we don't need to be looking for a point against te possible tourney favorites

Draw today and then pull a 1982 W. Germany-Austria ploy and agree to play to a 0-0 draw.
