We have as good a chance as y'all did last year. Why is that so hard to believe?
I think the skepticism when comparing ECU's situation to UCF's is that UCF won their division title, made the championship game, crushed a 9-4 Ball State team in their bowl game (they won 10 games this past season), and returned a ton of starters for their inaugural year in The American. Their only losses were to undefeated Ohio State (B1G), Missouri (SEC), and eventual conference champion Tulsa by 6 points. Even then, no UCF fan predicted what some ECU fans are predicting today.
ECU on the other hand finished 2nd in their division, hence no championship game, and beat a 7-6 Ohio team in their bowl. Their losses were to Virginia Tech (ACC-solid), Tulane, and Marshall by 31 points. Marshall didn't even win the conference title as they lost to Rice. Not to mention that C-USA last season was pretty watered down from the 2012 version with the additions of FAU, Middle Tennessee, and FIU to your schedule.
You're now re-introduced to UCF who your current coach is 1-2 against. (Cue ECU fans bringing up their wins against I-AA UCF to prove they're superior.)
In fact, he are the results from the last time you played these teams:
L 48-10 South Carolina
L 15-10 Virginia Tech
L 45-38 SMU
L 24-7 USF
L 24-19 Cincy
L 36-33 Tulane
L 40-20 UCF
ECU will have to turn around not one, not two, but SEVEN losing streaks to teams on their 2014 schedule. And yes, a one-game losing streak is still a losing streak. Again, all-time record matters little today as NONE of these seven programs were what they are today 10 years ago.
It's certainly a tall task for ECU which is why you guys are getting so much crap from all other AAC fanbases.
So you're pulling games from years ago and using them to support your claim, yet at the same time criticizing the use of historical records from previous years. Gotcha.
Within the past 3-4 years is substantially more relevant than within the past 2 decades (which is the extent of UCF's record against ECU)

Man, you lost all credibility with me with the two bolded parts (I'm sure you care). Let's not forget how lunatic UCF fans get when thry win a few games. PLENTY of UCF fans have had oversized expectations EVERY year they have played at the FBS level. A ton of them. Sure there are reasonable ones, just like there are with ECU fans...but you lump ALL ECU fans as that way and suggest we deserve to be treated a certain way for behavior even your own fans have done the same...even when you look back and in some cases you were right to act that way (which is the position ECU is in now). Hipocrites is what I call that. Your paragraph citing the records the last time we played those 7 teams is nothing but laughable. You must not have too much real world experience. If you did, you'd know that kind of reasoning is childish and not realistic. The rest of what you wrote I can live with as credible reasons not to believe ECU could go 11-1. There is nothing wrong with that. Just like there isn't anything wrong or outrageous with believing there is a chance....an chance equal to that of what UCF fans had last year. If you can't accept that, then you are the one who has blinders on.

SMU was what 2011? Cinny, USF nearly a decade ago..... Relevance to today? USF was garbage last year, see Kruciff's signature.
Tulane and UCF are one game each, one losing streaks......really????? Really? Before you basting out scores Tulane was a double OT lose on the road, one which we gave away, FG kicker choke 3 times, that won't happen again. Tulane and UCF come to DFS.
As for McNeil's record against UCF, he did have a rebuilding job to do here and he done it now. You like to bring up CUSA all the time, over looking the fact we went 3-1 in OOC beating the crap out of two ACC teams that no matter how you want to say it, had more talent on their roster than we did. You can argue the scores all you want, neither of those two games were close.

Typical from delusional fans. Acuse others and act like their own fan base has never done the same...and when called out, require examples...of which they'd never accept or would just rationalize...rather than just admit what they know is true. I'd be a true internet loser to even care to go look that stuff up...or fall for your bait to waste moments of my life to prove something we all know is true.

I predict 8-4. If we upset someone early and get some momentum?...I could be a special year. We have to play better defense and our kicking game must improve in order for that to happen. Being a fan for 40 years has taught me one thing. It is never easy at ECU. We are often times our worst enemy.

Lots of posts like yours from ECU fans in this in other threads...yet people still act like every ECU fan is unrealistic. We have the same percentage of delusional fans as anyone else in the AAC...just have a larger over all internet fanbase so it feels like more on the delusional side. Maybe one day some of these guys will grow up and realize what they have been over looking.
I put down 11-1. I think it's possible. So is 8-4. What should we finish with is what I put down. What we actually finish with could be the same or some entirely different story.

Nope, that was the first half, still missed two short FG after that. I'm not taking anyway from Tulane, you won, but ECU had nearly twice the yardage and coked inside the 5 yard line something like 5 times.

We win 15 shutouts in a row and drop at least 50 points on everyone. We also will not punt once the entire season.

Your safety blew his coverage, but got lucky in that it was a pre-stap read. Had it been play action pass Carden would hit a wide open Hardy. And, before you say it wasn't blown coverage that happened to work, your safety was on Hardy our best WR, and he let him go. I mean why leave an All Conference Player (Hardy) to double cover a true freshman, when we like to go to Hardy on fade routes, think about. But, what does your D have to with missing short to medium FG's wide right and left? Answer...nothing.

Agree. Until ECU proves it can beat competent teams, 8-4 seems more realistic.

ECU- can beat competent teams. Just not competent teams with low attendance. ECU gets up for big games and has let downs in small time venues. In games with at least 40k(one exception 38) team record was 7-1. In games with less than 25k in the stadium the team was 2-2.
I also voted for 8-4 season. @Tulsa, @Temple, @USF are games where attendance will lag and team will have trouble getting up for the game. @temple and @USF will be similar to playing @Tulane(big stadium, few fans). @Tulsa will be similar to playing @marshall(small stadium with good team, some fans)
