RE: Predict Tulane's 2014 Football Season Record
I think they can go 6-6 if they play their best game at the best times.
Wins: Tulsa, SELa, Rutgers, UCONN, Memphis, Temple
Losses: GaTech, Duke, Cincy, UCF, Houston, ECU

I wish we had a tune-up game in there. Southeastern is a consensus top 5 FCS team, full of transfers, including our starting CB from last year that we had to kick off the team. That one won't be easy.

RE: Predict Tulane's 2014 Football Season Record
It's a best-case scenario (or very close to it), but still a realistic scenario, IMHO:
Predicted wins (7) -- @Tulsa, Georgia Tech, SE Louisiana, @Rutgers, UConn, Memphis, Temple
Predicted losses (5) -- @Duke, @UCF, Cincinnati, @Houston, @East Carolina
Anything better than 8-4 would be a miracle. Anything worse than 4-8 would be a catastrophic meltdown. 6-6 is probably the most-likely outcome.

One thing I'm looking forward to is seeing how we stand up to UCF's lines. Our improvement has largely been on the lines (and DB). The last 2 times we played UCF, the rolled over us like they were blowing out a candle.

I honestly think Tulane drops that game.

Well of course you do. We've never lost to a FCS team, so we'll see.

Tulane has NEver lost to an fcs school. We beat SELA all the time.

It is more of a compliment to SLU and not a slight towards Tulane. They are going to be the favorites to win the FCS title. Loaded with FBS transfers including one of your starting DB's from last season.

Notice virtually everybody on here chalking up Tulsa as a Green Wave win, though it is likely Tulsa will be favored in that game, and likely a much improved team on both sides of the ball.

This is especially surprising considering the football series history between Tulsa & Tulane.
Tulane's close win over Tulsa in New Orleans last fall ended Tulsa's 8 game win streak in the series. Tulsa won each of those 8 games by at least 24 points.
After the total disaster of Tulsa football 2013, Tulsa fans consider the Tulane game a must win.

I'd say it's pretty close to a must-win.
During that period that we have played Tulsa, which began the Katrina year, we weren't competitive with anyone..I think UAB and maybe UTEP may be the only team we are .500 with. Tulsa and Houston were our most brutal slayers, but of course they had good teams all through that period. Can't forget UCF either - they steamrolled us twice (although we manged to beat them once, somehow). I think CJ looked at that Houston tape from 2011 about 100 times, and decided he better recruit OL and defense for 2 years before worrying about WRs, RBs or anything like that.
If Tulane doesn't get significantly improved QB play, we're looking at 3-4 wins. We were fortunate that when Montana went down, our defense really really clicked in for the rest of the season. He came back and played some after the injury, but he was nowhere near the same.
Tulsa's QB play, at least from what I saw, was less than exemplary as well.

I see 4-5 wins. If they're going to get bowl eligible, they need to open with a win @Tulsa, and I will be picking Tulsa.
With that said, Tulane is probably the AAC team I know the least about.
