RE: Rice @ UTSA Saturday game
Uncharacteristically, Fox is being hit VERY hard; even the outs. Hope he can settle down and regain his stuff and command. A leadoff HR on a 1-2 count is inexcusable. Fortunately, save for the 1st inning, the offense seems to be hitting well today...I only hope it's not a 1 or 2 inning thing and we go back into hibernation.

With 2-outs and a man on 2b in the 3rd, UTSA is already going to it's deep bullpen. Their co-stopper, Sr RHP Wesley Cox (23 app, 7-1, 1 save, 46.1 IP, 1.36 ERA, .216 BAA, 21 BBs, 44 Ks) now in.

The first well rested relief pitches walks two Rice batters and is replaced too. Bases loaded full of Owls with two outs.

This time they go with their co-closer, Sr RHP Matt Sims (19 app, 2-3, 5 saves, 31.2 IP, 2.84 ERA, .174 BAA, 12 BBs, 34 Ks)...

RE: Rice @ UTSA Saturday game
Blake gives up a leadoff single, but picks him off (his 6th of the year!), and no further damage. Time to pad the lead, as we're now likely to see a parade of relievers.

Byrd first pitch fly out. Why is the leadoff hitter of the inning first pitch swinging???
Cook ground out to 2B.
Hoelscher struck out.
So much for hope of a reawakened offense. We're going to need more runs today, unless Blake suddenly regains his stuff. He's got his control, but he's not missing any bats...and he's had many balls squared up against him.

Good guys lead 3-1 heading to the bottom of the fourth.

RE: Rice @ UTSA Saturday game
Blake gave us a one-out ground single, but stranded him at 1B.

Reeves leadoff walk.
Ewing fouled out. Skyler coninues his mini-slump, with a lot of foul outs and infield pops (similar to when Rendon was in his mini-slumps).
Aquino struck out.
McDowell with a clutch, opposite field RBI double down the line! 02-13-banana
Teykl struck out swinging on full count.

Good guys lead 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning. Blake may not be missing bats, but he's keeping his pitch count down as I believe he's only thrown 40 - 41 pitches through four innings of work.

Ugh. Infield single and throwing error puts a UTSA runner on 2B with no outs. Bear down, Blake!
