Well the Bible says they were turned into pillars of salt. The scientists will do what they can to disprove that part. Even if God did use a meteor, their goal would be to prove that a meteor would have been coincidental. God is definitely able to do what He feels necessary, I don't, and won't deny that for a second.

Here is the Planisphere tablet they found that makes them think an asteroid, HALF A MILE WIDE, came down and destroyed S&G. That would hit like 1,000 tons of dynamite. Would have wiped out more than just S&G.

Unbelievers are also not taking into consideration that how did the angels know that a meteorite was heading straight for Sodom and Gomorrah? If in deed as they say a meteorite happened. Even today scientists can't pinpoint where a man-made satellite will fall. Uh, is there an answer for that?

Lot and his wife were turned into a pillar of salt for looking back at S&G as they were leaving, directly disobeying God. S&G were destroyed by something that very well could have been meteorites (asteroid pieces that survive entry through the atmosphere). The description sounds like it to me.
