Hopefully Tyndall says he's staying in Hattiesburg.

You guys like Dooley to come to USM?

I think he makes 200K @ FGCU

I hope Donnie follows Whites lead and stays at Southern.

I read Tyndall or Ben Howland, and Howland is interested. Tennessee wouldn't even have to pay a buyout. I think Howland gets it.

And hopefully we offer him $750K per year to show him that we are willing to make an effort.

It sounds like UT is trying to lowball so that extra money could make a difference.

Can S. Miss afford $750,000 a year? Even if you could afford it I think I would let him move on before paying that amount. If he's looking at Tenn with the amount of players they are losing and a total rebuild....

then he will take the next job that comes along. At this point Tenn is not a great job now it would be different if they had a core even a young core of players coming back. But then again he might be thinking the same thing about S. Miss ...you are losing a lot.

Where did you get no buyout? If he leaves before April 29 the buyout is $500,000. After that date it is a % of his remaining contract which would equal right at $700,000. Of course that is chump change for Tennessee.

Sounds like it will be announced in the morning. Oh well, hope the AD is on the phone making the new hire now.

RE: Looking like Tyndall to Tennesse
Hope he stays, and would really hope that USM had the bucks to pay him what he's worth which I would say is a million or so. I'm led to believe that USM athletics is broke, but it's donors who make up most of high-salaried coaches' pay anyway, and surely there are some USM high rollers who could open their wallets. No reason USM couldn't turn into a Wichita State or VCU in bball.

If he leaves, hope it's to Mizzou just because it would rattle the UTK fans no end. Their fanbase thinks they're an elite bball program and early on thought they would have no problem hiring Shaka Smart or Greg Marshall. Being turned down by the "lowly" LaTech coach chapped their butts real good.

Probably tired of not being able to put together a schedule that won't get him into the tournament no matter how many wins he gets. Hard to blame him if he is indeed gone. At UT, he can call almost anyone in the country and get a home game or a 1-1.

Wasnt the buyout for White like 1.2?? Not alot of difference to one of sec schools at the bottom of the money pile

But if this happens i think its gonna be quick.

I doubt it.

For much of the season, USM had a higher rpi than UT.

Their OOC schedule has never been anything to brag about. Last year they beat UVA. That's about it. They lost to UTEP and Xavier. They had an easy run to the sweet 16. Teams like Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, etc., arent banging down doors to play them.

Even Memphis won't play them in bball unless they pony up with a home and home in football despite the fact that Pastner is 3-0 against Counzo Martin.

It is hard to turn down a program like Tennessee even if they will struggle next season. They have a lot of resources and that is probably half the battle for a good coach.
