Two things here:
1. Someone has to, because we certainly aren't getting any help from anyone else (considering those most impressed by us are in the same rat race or don't want to acknowledge that a G5 school can be more impressive in certain areas).
2. I was having a bit of fun with my comment because the fan base literally does "pimp itself." As in, the fan base is what we are pimping since it's so unusual to see a team with a large fb fan base outside of the P5. More recently we're pimping upgrades to facilities, academics on the rise, Ruffs fb team, etc... but you get my point.

Cajun Field aka the original "Swamp" will seat 37,000+ next season. Total capacity after the final renovation will total somewhere between 46,000-52,000 depending on which design is chosen based off of structural integrity test that have to be completed. We will never see 60k in seats, that was all conceptual designs and the university will not expand past Phase II of the facility Master Plan regarding Cajun Field.
The next expansion will occur in two years, completely demolishing and reconstructing the current upper deck and adding a matching upper deck to the east side of the stadium.
I understand that we are a mouthy bunch of fans and rub some people the wrong way. But some of y'all are just as ridiculous and adamant with your opposition towards OUR improvements to athletics and facilities.
There is 1 university in Louisiana not named LSU, that has unlimited potential and it is not La Tech (demographics and location) or Tulane (culturally does not fit in New Orleans). The University of Louisiana @ Lafayette has the most potential of all state universities due to location, demographics, growth and fan base. The athletic budget has nearly doubled in 5 years without the support of student fees.
If Louisiana continues on this current trend then there will no longer be any debate as to who is number 2 within this state.

Seems like a self-contradicting claim ... if you truly understood that your mouthiness rubs some people the wrong way, you wouldn't confuse the reaction to that with being some kind of opposition to what ULL is doing to improve its athletics and/or facilities.

Like I said before, we need a dedicated "Pimp My School" Board where everyone can brag about their latest weight room expansion all in one convenient, consolidated place

I don't mind the Pimp threads. I personally respect the Cajuns and think they would be a great conference mate again. I don't know if that will ever happen (can't see LaTech wanting them in C-USA), but they are certainly trending up.

Discussing College Sports & Conference Realignment?
I'm more used to facilities upgrade posts in the conference specific forums ... after all, those are the fans of the teams most likely to be either using those facilities, for stadium/arena, and competing against those facilities in recruitment.
That is, if there is some actual news or new announcement ... if a particularly enthusiastic school supporter wants to do a series of posts at the level of finishing painting the other sideline in the FB indoor practice facility and getting ready to paint the hash marks, that's more for a school-specific subforum.

I can see your point, but "pimping" your school would fall squarely in the realignment arena.

ULL and Arkansas State should finish near the bottom in Football like North Texas, FIU and Fau. Obviously it worked for them.

Lafayette is a prime location for a major college so in time, and with continued strong leadership, I think it will make great strides.
I think UL's management has been spectacular! It got them promoted to the ACC.

Lafayette is a small city. Hardly the market that it being portrayed as by Cajun fans as one of major opulence, power and potential.
Personally, I think Lafayette and Arkansas State would be good pick ups for CUSA based on fans and performance but I just don't think they are ready for the B12 or anything like that.

A few bowl wins against low level competition isn't going to turn heads, but you're winning, so that's important. Basketball.... meh. Baseball is great, but like someone said, that's not going to get you into another league. What's going to attract attention is an overall investment in athletics. This starts with facilties, and as far as I can tell, the upgrades and renovations currently being done look great. I think one very important thing is to improve OOC scheduling in the major sports and be willing to play anyone, anytime, anywhere. Another key is investing in your coaches, and giving them the support they need to hire their staff and implement their visions.
Overall, I believe Louisianna-Lafayette will move up to CUSA in due time. I doubt any Sun Belt teams are going to make the jump to the AAC, or any P5 conferences.
PS - There's only one UofL, and that's Louisville :). UL-L should design a shirt that says "Respect the Hyphen".
We've never called ourselves UofL, so I guess you are right, there is only one UofL. LOUISIANA goes by UL. Don't think there is any confusion between UH (Hawaii) and UofH (Houston). Don't think there is any confusion among OSU's (Oregon State & Ok State), UT (Texas & Tennessee), and UM (Minnesota, Missouri). Michigan goes by U-M, so I guess you can ask them to "Respect the Hyphen", too. Keep using UofL. We like that just fine.

Without consulting an atlas or e-map, most people would have no idea where Lafayette is in Louisiana.

The same can be said about 99.9% of cities outside the top 5 biggest cities in the country.

I kinda think that most could figure out the location of Pittsburgh, Denver, St. Louis, Phoenix and many more. Apples and oranges.
