Single bounces over drawn-on Hoelscher. two runs score. 5-1, MT.

(I've got to leave ... so someone else should take over the play-by play, if you'd like.)

A single to left makes it 5-1 Raiders. By the 3 run rule I now declare this game over. Ditman has his second non-stingy outing in a row. He has nothing today. 6-1 Raiders.

You have to expect the occasional off outing from the pitching staff but it needs to happen when we are scoring more. So score some more, Owls. But no, a double play ends our at bat in the sixth.

Same old, same old-- as predicted, this pitcher is wild as heck, and we continue to swing on the first pitch or when ahead 1-0 in the count...even with the bases loaded (as Stainback did in the 4th and again in the 5th, even after two consecutive 4-pitch walks...and again in the 6th with Byrd, who's in a horrendous slump, swinging at 1-0 after a leadoff single). Oh, and another two failed sac bunts attempts-- what's that, 5 on the weekend? At some point, you'd think The OG would read the riot act and put a stop to this insanity. We may be the single, most inefficient offense in college baseball.

True. We're not waiting out the pitcher but with the way the umps are calling the "corners" I wouldn't be surprised if we swung at everything.

The rally deities laugh at our meager pretensions. A strikout on three out of the strike zone pitches and a double play end the Owls' chances in the seventh.

The MTSU color man sounds like he thinks he's doing a golf telecast. He almost whispers. Ewing selects a driver and approaches the tee.

To the eighth we go with the Owls hopelessly behind in the clutch hit category but ahead on the muffed bunt game 4-0. The score in runs, if that's what interests you more is still 6-1. Awaiting the renaissance.

Wooohoo!!! Byrd man double brings home a run! 6-2 MTSU. Aquino scores. Teykl on 3rd. Byrd on 2nd. 1 down for Warren.

MTSU digs deeper into their pen. New Raider on the mound. Let's go, Charlie. A single here makes this game very, very interesting...

Byrd, 0 for the season, crosses up the fates, doubling unrepentedly to right. Dare I say. But no. Surely not. A Rally brewing? 6-2 with a pitching change. Two on, one out. Go Owls.

A quick search of the new Raider hurler, Garrett Ring, turns up "ideal for someone with a January birthday, this fabulous piece of jewelry with a deep burgundy red gem is now half off at Zales!"

I may have had autocorrect on...

Elf Owl demands we all put on our ralley caps. Make it so. Owls on 1st and 2nd for Ford. 1 down. 6-3 Raiders.

Bah, Ford flies out to LF. Cook up with 2-down. Let's keep hope alive, Keenan.

YES!! Cook singles, Byrd scores!! 6-4!

Big Sky up to bat. Warren on 3rd. Cook on 1st. 2 down. Need a clutch hit here, big fella. Single gets one. Double gets two.

EDIT: Oof, pop-up gets none...

I think you mean he needs to get them to execute sacrifice bunts better. That's true. However, another option might be to not sacrifice bunt so often...since even if they are successful it is very questionable whether they really give you a better chance of scoring more runs.

Bah. Jared Allen, long of the Minnesota Vikings, then the Chicago Bears, now clean-up hitter for MTSU, triples off Orewiler. 1 down. Gotta keep that guy from getting home, Owls, which wikipedia says is somewhere in Northern California.
