When is the Spring Game?

April 12 at noon. I think they will also hold 2 practices in the stadium as well, the earliest being April 5 which is probably why they are painting the field right now.

ADD: The new section of seats will not be open for the Spring Game, I think the first event in the stadium that will utilize them is graduation in May.

10 acres of land near our campus will run you about $15M to $20M. Hence we lease te Dome. Still hoping we make a move on the Ted.

In all seriousness, where will this money come from? You guys didn't have enough $ to have a spring game in the dome, how will you buy the Ted? Private funds?

EDIT: Actually it may not be a bad idea to try the student fee route like we did.

GSU doesnt have a $$$ problem. We have an AD problem. We have $1.5B in building projects in downtown as we speak. What is unspoken is that donations to athletics have dried up. Its a no confidence vote with the wallet. Ted and the land can absolutely be done with private funds and a quid pro quo with the city since nobody else wants the land and nobody knows what to do with it.

This I can agree with.

Well, duh. If you guys have the money so readily available, then why isn't the President or someone else making headway in funding the Ted effort? That's something significant for the whole school, not something I would put squarely on the shoulders of just the AD.

That's a huge institutional decision.

From the out looking in, we hear you guys talk a lot about the money, but there's isn't much to show for it. Just sayin.

RE: Paulson Stadium Expansion Camera Feed
What I think is incredibly awesome is that since the Fall of 2011, we've invested $26 million in the future of our athletics programs through multiple improvements. This is going to be the biggest visual one moving forward and so far it looks better than I imagined. We're 3 years into an 8 year fundraising campaign and have raised close to $18 million in private funds so we're slightly ahead of schedule. There's hope/rumors about bigger projects coming down the pipe and we're about to embark on our FBS journey. It's a great time to be an Eagle.

I can't wait to see the stadium in a couple of weeks, the Blue White Game is really a great opportunity for people who've only been able to watch the construction webcam to get a chance to see the "new" Paulson....and from every indication it's extremely impressive in person.

Saw it with my own two eyes yesterday. Pictures and video don't even compare to how it really is. Looks much bigger and within a few years can be the best stadium in the conference.

What the hell is the relevance? Reminds me of guys who have to compensate for other shortcomings and tell you how much all their toys cost all the time.

Simply stating the differences between the two. Someone made the specific point that Southern was doing it "better" than FAU and I was simply stating that $25M-$32M for renovations to an existing stadium and $70M for a brand new stadium arenot analogous situations, factor in the the differences in geographic based construction cost differences and it becomes even less so.

The point, or my point anyhow, is not who's cost more, or who did it better, my point is simply that it's not really fair to compare the two when they have so little in common. Georgia Southern and FAU both looked at their respective situations and made the decisions that best suited them.

Would Turner field be worth it? How much money would have to be dumped in that thing for renovations and to make it State's own stadium for football?

And I'm not asking this because I doubt it, but because I really don't know what the cost would be to buy it and renovate vs buying land and building new.

We have bought most of downtown. Maybe not a lot to show in Athletics. But on the academic side we have purchased the 17 story Sun Trust tower, the Citizens Trust Bank tower, the Atlanta Life building and we just paid $33.5 for the 19 story 55 Park Place building which will be the new Business School building. That isnt including the $58m we are spending to build the new Law School building. So there is plenty going on on the academic side.of things.

Saw it for the first time this past weekend. Absolutely freaking beautiful and impressive. You can see the top of the stands all the way down Lanier Dr, and I'd imagine about near Greek row and definitely from the booster lot.

The pictures do no justice whatsoever to the expansion. I think a lot of folks are going to be floored when they see the "new" Paulson.

The FOC looks top notch and very "big time". The video board is going to be a lot bigger than what we may have initially expected.

Rumor is the board will be full HD 1080P LED. There won't be a bad seat in the whole place.

From the "Ask TK" segments on gseagles.com, it appears we won't officially announce anymore expansion until we double the season ticket holder numbers. Once that happens ( and we're helping our own cause with limited seats ), I expect the home side to get expanded out to add about another 2,000-3,000.

Third deck on the visitor's and/or more decks and new luxury and press boxes on the home side, I hope, will be done within 10 years.

I think you weigh the cost vs. the cost and likely hood of ever getting 15 to 20 acres downtown for a stadium and the likely $150m plus to build. The Ted land and Underground Atlanta are once in a lifetime situations that you have to look at because the reality is that the Ted parking lots resolve the playing Olympic sports at Panthersville 9 miles away problem as well.

The only time it has been online is when we had it on Friday several years ago as an experiment. I think we keep it local to encourage people to come out and check things out. We have used it to test our infrastructure for streaming, just didn't make it available for everyone to see. I can go either way on opening it up online, but I don't disagree with getting everyone out in the sunshine and enjoying a nice day either.

Good question. I'm not sure.

But, if you really want to check it out, come on down to Statesboro! I'm sure there's quite a few of us that would show the infamous Panama hospitality over cold beers and hot eats.

Yes, we tailgate for the Spring Game, too.
