Yes sir, CBN stands for Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. I'm so pumped we are #1! Never thought I'd see the day, of all the years growing up and watching Cajun baseball as a diehard fan... this is truly amazing. Now we just need to keep it up. GEAUX CAJUNS!

GO SBC. 04-rock

Jags were ranked #1 in baseball in '72 and '75.

Georgia Southern is #40 in Coaches poll this week. We went 3-2 with split with Clemson and took 2 of 3 from Appalachian. I know this is not as impressive as Louisiana but we are having a nice year at 19-6 right now.

Dude, we will be humbled at some point because we are going to lose more games. Cajuns just need to hang on and finish in the Top 10 to host a regional!

I do like that the Sun Belt is such a strong baseball conference. Just wish more folks (myself included, sadly) paid more money to it.

If I lived in Jonesboro, or near for that matter, it might be different.

Pretty impressive stuff.

Three teams top 50 RPI. Six in the top 100.

Right now the biggie, is grinding it out so there is a Lafayette Regional other than the airport.

I too am a proud Cajun fan but more so I'm so proud for the SBC as a whole. We are putting it together lets keep it rolling. Lets enjoy it while we can because like other realistic fans we will lose a few games and unlike the power conferences we will not get the benefit of the doubt. So enjoy it while we can as a conference. GEAUX CAJUNS

Nice try, comparing a game played in New Orleans to a game played on campus. But as I said, I was just tying to fire you guys up.

Comparing a major conference tournament in New Orleans to what is the 4th or 5th most popular sport at ASU if you count Rugby?

We get large crowds for Ole Miss. We get them when we play some NEA Nobody. We get good crowds for Memphis. I am not sure how much preaching is going to help. There are too many ASU fans who are completely ignorant of college baseball. We rely on it being a big name...something ULL will never have in Jonesboro.

ASU is not a big name in Lafayette either, but you guys are a rival and Cajuns will come out for your games. I understand, the Rugby comment explains it all.

You are right. The last three years have proven there is no interest in the Cajuns in New Orleans and the fan base has no interest in driving to New Olreans. I live in Little Rock and I've never watched AState play UALR in baseball at UALR. I've been to the newish (opened in 2007) double A baseball park one time and I was given tickets then.

Baseball doesn't do it for me.

Oh we consider you guys a rival as well. One of our baseball players even today named off you guys and UALR as the two biggest rivals from the teams POV.

From a fans perspective though, baseball has never really been a big deal. I mean, I haven't missed a game in two or three years...but I know others who wouldn't come watch if the game was in their back yard. Baseball is just one of those sports you either love, or hate.

I know it can be popular in Arkansas. The pigs have really turned themselves into a baseball school...but it took them years of NCAA success and CWS appearance to build the program. We haven't been to a regional since the early 90's. It would take consistent NCAA appearances to ever truly bring large crowds to our baseball game.

Until that time, we'll continue to average 400 or so, and be happy that its still larger than a large majority of college baseball teams in the country.

You should try taking in a few games. While I'm a diehard football fan, baseball is the greatest game ever invented....well, next to that Mayan game where you had throw your opponents head through a loop on the wall. That one was pretty cool too.

12,000 season tickets holders in comparison to 1,800 plus in MBB is your answer. I'd say those that expected Cajun fans to show up in NO by the thousands for MBB haven't been paying close attention to our attendance in the Cajun Dome. This was Marlin's first winning season in year four of his leadership, there was very little to celebrate until this season. I expect more excitement for MBB next season.
