I enjoyed this season. The lows were really low, yeah, but the HIGHS were really HIGH. What a ride!!
I'll miss the seniors but already looking forward to next season and a whole new batch of players. GO TIGERS!

To me NCAAB is not like college football, in that in football, you can have a great season based on what you do in the regular season but losing in postseason. But basketball is set up (at least imo) where your season is judged by how you do in the tournament. If we went undefeated like Wichita St. but never got past the round of 32, I'd say the season wasn't a success.
We made the tourney, and advanced...only 9 Memphis basketball teams ever did better.

RE: Good Season Tigers, hold your heads high!
Overall, a pretty solid season. Lots of high points, and several low points. Disappointing loss to UVA, for sure. What galled me the most was that it was over by halftime, and everyone knew it. I think the guys continued to play hard, but it looked like men vs. boys out there. Ah, well...............
Probably not the best idea to evaluate the entire body of work so soon after a tough season-ending defeat, but here's hoping the staff implements some changes to get the Tigers a notch further up the ladder.
Thanks, seniors, for the years of service!! Best wishes in future endeavors.

It was a good season. I think under Josh most seasons will be good. But there in lies the double edged sword, as I think none will be great. It doesn't bother me personally, because I don't directly pay his $2M+ annual salary, but I could see where some would expect more.
It is just a game, played for enjoyment. The Tiger's failure or success will not impact my life where it matters in one iota.
I'm sure there is always next year, or the one after, or possibly the one after that one.

RE: Good Season Tigers, hold your heads high!
We had a good year. Not great. Based on my parse of MT.org, we didn't meet a few peoples expectations, but most of those folks think we have the talent of KS, KY, AZ, etc. Time for another generation of Tigers to land in the backcourt. Lets see how it plays out. The Tiger program is in good shape. Regardless of the opinion of a few blathering idiots on this blog.

If JP lands a truely 'great' player, he will enjoy a great run. Like the other coach's who have 'great' players. The key to being a 'great' coach is to get 'great' players.

we lose lots of seniors, but I like the look of next seasons team...lots of athleticism, size, and talent.
PG - Pookie Powell/Dom Magee (both four-star players)
G/F - Nick King (four-star player)
G/F - Kuran Iverson (four-star player)
F - Austin Nichols (five-star player)
F - Shaq Goodwin (McDonalds All-American)
-----------------------
G - Damien Wilson
G - Avery Woodson
G/F - Markel Crawford
G/F - Trahson Burrell
G/F - Chris Hawkins
C - Dom Woodson
Nick King is not playing at the two. Probably one or the other of Wilson or Crawford will end up starting. I wouldn't pencil in King starting at the 3 either, since Pastner is traditionally averse to playing with size.

Pre 1970 (or some such the NIT) was considered the better or at least an equal tournament. Are you not aware of this?

(More like pre WWII) Im trying to enjoy this last season...i know ALL about the NIT...you and the Temple fans can discuss the validity of declaring them 1938 National Champs if you like.

That's pretty good.
The one particular appearance I have in mind is the 1957 NIT final where we lost to Bradley by a point. I *think* the NIT was the more prestigious tournament at that time......
But, to the point at hand, I would count the 1957 NIT final as 'going further' than this years team and, I'll ask again, is it counted among your 9?

For me...yes, of course...im just saying "some" on here (not you) want to discount making the NCAA round of 32...so you can imagine they would have zero respect for the NIT...thats why I left it off.
