Message to Josh!
Josh I have been one of your biggest supporters since the day you were hired and what I am saying is strictly constructive.
In watching the game tonight and the pregame pep talk it was obvious you do not have the ''Proper Respect" from your players. They respect you as a person but almost none of your players were even looking at you in the room. You did not have their undivided attention. One was dancing, one was putting his warm up on, one was picking his hand for a splinter or some foreign object. Two of the players were sitting there talking while you were beginning your talk. You cannot have this kind of "ignoring of you" in the future especially if it is on nationwide TV.
Prospective recruits will look elsewhere because most of them want someone who will "make" them get better to prepare for a good career or the next level. MAKE THEM RESPECT YOU when you are talking even if it's over dinner. Do your career, the university and us fans a favor, get some toughness into what you do and be passionate about it and demand that from your players. They are nowhere mentally tough enough to win in a big way in the NCAA tournament at the D-1 level. I will still continue to support you and the Tigers because I am a 50+ year Tiger fan.
All that aside. Congratulations to you and the team on a 20+ win season and a win in the NCAA tourney. We had some good memories even though the Virginia game wasn't one of them.

He just needs to keep his head down and work and not name call the fans until he has a tournament run or two under his belt. He's hasn't earned the right; silence on these matters might be the best policy for him.

JP needs to find a pregame meal that prevents little but holes from tightening up.

RE: Message to Josh!
The things that he uttered in the pregame sounded like something that the players would be saying not coach-speak...He seems as though he has been following what the players dictate and it's gotten to a point where they are the dictatorship and the coaches follow their lead...There is very little direction and leadership from a coaching perspective....Hence the suspension of Dom , the departures of Black and Barton.....We have never had defections such as this in our history....And it's rather disturbing.
What we have been getting in halftime interviews and post-game now seems rhetoric to avoid the real underlying circumstances that keep this program from improving with organization and discipline on the floor

He needs to go back to being an assistant. If he can't get a team up in the locker room for a NCAA game by now, he never will be able to do it.

Frankly he should apologize to season ticket holders. Economic times have been tough but we still shell out thousands of dollars a year to support this team. A year or two of disappointment is ok but this has become the norm. I really wish another school would come after josh and he could just go. Calipari was a tough act to follow. Pastner would be a very easy act to follow and I think a lot of coaches would want this job.

Tic Price is available. Just looking at him and I know most of the 'babblers' on this board would be satisfied.

RE: Message to Josh!
They did the best they could. Taken as a 4 year body of work it falls short but it's not like they didn't make it to any S16s on purpose. I feel badly for JJ and CC and also for GJ.
After the Arizona game their freshman year I thought they'd have 2 S16s.

It's not about fear. However, as the head coach you DO have the power. It is as simple as holding players accountable for their actions.
Their needs to be consequences for actions on and off the court.
He can make Woodson stay home and suspend him for attitude and cursing.... But, he can't make 2 guards sit on the bench at the same time when they turn the ball over 5 times in a row and are 2-22 from the field?
I would rather take a loss playing King, Wilson, Iverson in the 1-3 spots then having our guards have a bad game and stay on the court. I have seen numerous times where players were being flat out lazy, having bad games, playing "hero" ball, and still sitting out on the court for the duration of the game continuing to suck and he stick with it.
This season is over. Hopefully a lot of people fans, coaches, and players alike have learned from it.

It's pretty simple. The only way to get to that next level...Recruit better players.
Also, our defensive principles need some evaluation.

Well said!
I think coach was too "beholding" to some of these guys because they were his first recruiting class - kinda' like they were his firstborn. They could do no wrong, and therefore didn't have the same rules as the following groups. I hope this treatment hasn't tempered the remaining players to think this kind of behavior is acceptable.

RE: Message to Josh!
Well said OP. & in pastners case, well done is better than well said, which neither occurred for him tonight.
Right before Rachel Nichols was about to interview pastner before the 2nd half I paused it, looked at my wife & told her what JP was about to say. I then pressed play & he repeated it word for word. We laughed for 5 minutes! Especially over the look Rachel was giving him. JP is losing respect nationally.
