It is a very good possibility, If we have a nice run in the NCAA Tourney with MTSU and even with WKU (sbc rep this year/ CUSA next) that it will bring good visibility to the conference. If you combine that with the 5 teams in the WNIT and If they have a good run I feel it will set CUSA up for a break out year next year.
I truly see a huge up side for our position on the National stage with the CUSA Women's game.
This conference will be much stronger next year. Good Luck to all the women's teams in post season play, kick butt. Look out next year, here we come. In the future this league will get multiple teams in the WNCAA. I think 3 next year and more as we move forward. The future for this conference is bright. We will be a premier women's conference fast.

I love the enthusiasm. Couple of things might depress the excitement though:
1. Shae Kelley (1st Team ODU) and Whitney Frazier (2nd team LaTech) will be the only returning players returning from the league All-Conference teams (1st, 2nd and Defensive).
2. Unless ALL the teams upgrade their OOC slates (AND WIN), we are still going to get punished come NCAA selection time for poor SOS. Half the conference had sub-150 RPIs. We simply MUST get more teams into the top-100. Having 3-4 teams in the top-50 should also be a top priority.
3. We aren't getting three teams in the NCAA next year (especially if MT wins the tournament again.) You simply don't have teams with the veteran talent and committed leadership to win against tough OOC schedules. MT will be there. But who else has the track record to give you such confidence?
4. We need a team in the preseason WNIT that can make some noise. My vote is W. Ky as they will be among the most veteran squads in the conference and be coming off an NCAA appearance. (MT is not eligible to participate again until 2016.)
5. One factor in achieving WNIT success is getting home games. But when 63% of your programs draw fewer than 900 fans, you aren't getting good home games. ECU, Tulane and Tulsa and their 820 fan averages will be gone and Western jumps in with a respectable 1586 fans/game. But some of our other programs run ghost towns for their women's programs.

You just made me spit coffee all over a keyboard lol. I saw this Shirley tool on another forum spouting his know nothing dribble. Whats funny is that his beloved lady raiders had a sos less than 10 spots ahead of ours which he so badly criticized. And they had the mighty vols and ky yet our overall sos is still that close.
Truth is without the auto bid middle might be hosting a wnit game. Until something changes from the front office of this league we are 1 bid and 1 bid only.
I also don't see the greatest team to ever take a dump behind a pair of nikes as being that strong in 15. They played rowe 38.5 mins a game, lost other key srs and still needed the protection from the striped shirts many times during the year.
I think we have replaced still jonesing and the other greg childers in one swoop.

Everything Stephen said was true... I have been following women's basketball for about 15 years now, and I'm sorry, but I think he knows more than you think he does. MT would have gotten an automatic bid to the NCAAs. We had a worse RPI and a worse SOS one year in the SBC when we lost in the quarterfinals and we still got in as an 11 seed. They like MT, because we bring fans and we always bring our A-game.
Also, a tidbit of information -- MT's SOS of about 78 and USM's of 88 are not bad at all. That said, MT has no bad losses to "moderately" bad teams, according to RPI indexes. USM has lost several games, and thus the RPI is lower. Both teams set up their schedules relatively well, but USM lost games they should not have and thus were kept out of the tournament, albeit as one of the first ones out.
To put SOS things in perspective, MT's SOS was what it was because of a few factors. One, we played several top-tier RPI teams (UT, UK, USM, etc.) but also a small number of low RPI teams but these were mostly in conference save a couple. Two, USM's best opponent was MT. Their schedule consisted of more of an average assortment of moderately - okay teams from the mid RPI range. They played no one terribly outstanding, and some teams both teams faced beat USM but not MT (example: Miss State).
Plus you said we'll be a one bid league for a while unless people change. That's what he said... Except you blame the office, when it's the schools that are the problem. We saw this in the Sun Belt. Same thing now.

In the entire WNIT? That's impressive. I'd UTEP to expect the highest attendance in competing CUSA teams given their high fan support, if that's what it was.
