ASU moves to 4-0 in conference with a 5-1 win over UTA. 3rd straight year we have started 4-0 in league I believe.

I was just looking at Nolan Warren's site and saw that the Cajuns now have an RPI of 15.04-jawdrop

Those are regional hosting worthy numbers.

Still can't wrap my brain around the RPI thingy. Before tonight's win the Cajun's RPI had crept lower and lower and was sitting at 26, then BAM, 15.

Those SEC teams you played are starting to play each other.

Oh to forever understand RPI. ASU"s RPI jumped to 21 with the win today. All of our nonconference opponents so far except Murray State have a top 100 RPI.

USA, WKU and UALR also both still have top 100 RPI's at this point.

Cajuns will jump as well with a number of it's opponents winning tonight!

Now lets see how ace #2, Mr. Baranik, pitches tomorrow. Does GaSt have any notable pitching outside of their Friday night guy?

See my post on Ragin' Pagin tonight as to why. Remember, RPI is most about OWP.

No. That will hurt the Cajuns' RPI (as they beat up on each other) ... but it will help the SEC teams playing each other. Unless LSU and Alabama went on tears in the SEC. The Cajuns' OWP is the W/L record of LSU and Alabama. But LSU and Alabama's OWP is the W/L record of their opponents (including that lofty SEC schedule that is a boon for their RPIs).

You are right. I forgot that no one ever dominates the SEC. You can count on even their best teams taking 8-9 losses at least in league play.

The Cajuns issue is going to be SBC Play. Obviously if you go on a crazy run, go 28-2 in league...you'll probably stand a good shot at the National seed, but one slip up in league play could kill you.

The weakness comes in with SOS...you've got a bad loss to EIU to open the season already against you. Attrition leads most to believe you probably wont go 30-0 in the SBC. Who will those losses be against? If you have a bad day and lose to a bottom tier SBC team, it could single handedly destroy your Super Regional host chances.

I think you guys will probably be good either way for a top 16 barring an unforeseen collapse, which at least keeps you away from LSU for a weekend, and gives you a chance at hosting should a National Seed be upset...which happens fairly often.

The one loss to EIU is no different than any other loss (in terms of RPI). It is EIU being on the schedule that hurts more (affecting OWP significantly) ... though I do expect EIU to pick up the pace a bit as they move out of their brutal early season schedule. Thus, the Cajuns could have won all games vs. EIU and dropped one to Southern Mississippi ... the Cajuns would have the same RPI.

You should take solace. We've started 4-0 in league three straight years, and have done nothing with it the majority of the time.

This is an important series for us...one we need to win. We've got to be able to show ourselves that we can beat an SBC Team not named UALR. Its been the big knock on us the last few years...the inability to get over the hump and win a big series. Figure out how to win a series from the Troy's USA's WKU's and Texas States's of the world. (Three of the next 4 series are against those teams)

UTA leads ASU 2-1 in the Bottom of the 3rd. We've had two runners picked off base that have killed innings.

ASU about to pull off the remarkable feat of Winning the first 4 games of league play and then losing game 5 for the 3rd straight season. Just blew what might be our last chance to score in the 8th.

History dictates we will lose tomorrow as well.
