How many wins does your team have to reach for 2014 to be a success?
Considering all the graduations, defections, recruits, and the 2013 results what is the win total that your team must reach in 2014 for you to consider the season a success.
For Marshall anything less than 10 regular season wins is unacceptable at this point. I am not in the boat of undefeated or the season was a total failure like a lot of our fans are saying. For me the bar is 10 regular season wins, hosting the CUSA title game, winning the conference, and finishing in the Top25. The goal is going 14-0.
While I will admit that going undefeated is one of the most difficult things to do as it takes a good bit of luck to pull it off we have a embarrasing easy out of conference schedule, our tougher conference games are at home, we return a lot from last season, and our recruiting class was really good.

If we go bowling, I'd say Todd Monken knocked it out of the park. I don't expect that to happen though.

I think 5 is reasonably optimistic for UAB. And above .500 finish and we'll be dancing in the streets.

With your 2014 schedule. 10 wins will not be a problem.

Tech has 2 sure losses at Oklahoma and Auburn, so it's really a 10 game schedule. I think all 10 could go either way. 6-6 and bowling would nice. Less than that would be disappointing.... again.

i'm hoping for 7 with north texas...lost many, many seniors and leaders...don't want a dropoff like tech had last year with their seniors leaving (although they had many more)
though i think the fan base may see a 2 win regression as a negative...

WKU has had 15 winning seasons of the last 18 seasons with the 3 losing seasons coming during transition to FBS. Now with 3 straight winning seasons in a row at the FBS level, winning seasons are expected by the WKU faithful. With that said, a new coach, new conference, new recruits, I have no idea what the expectations are for this coming season. Anything short of 6 wins would be disconcerting. A minimum of 7 wins would be a successful season for me. I'll have a better sense of things as we get closer to the first kickoff.

While it would be the fewest wins we would ever have had I would consider 5 to be a success factoring in the FCS to FBS move and out 1st year in C-USA.

I think most Charlotte fans just want to see us not lose to DII or DIII schools this year and see general improvement on both sides of the ball.
I just want a shred of hope that we won't be completely outmatched in all areas our first year in CUSA.

yeah, what the hell????
it's a 3-5 win expectation year...
however, I like surprises and won't be surprised if we exceed that expectation level.....we have a qb my man....and I still believe in Monken....Mullens development is going to be the key....

We've only won more than 5 once since 2001. So 4-5 would be a successful first year for Clark.

I agree with you regarding the Miners. 5 wins would be a successful season and 6 wins would be very pleasing.

UTEP's first season with Kugler, 2-10, was a huge disappointment. Now in his second year with more depth, a good number of returning starters, more time in the system, etc., some improvement to show he is on the right track is about all I expect. 4 or 5 wins would do that. 6 wins and I would not only be happy with the results but also shocked.

RE: How many wins does your team have to reach for 2014 to be a success?
For UTSA, 1-3 is a realistic OOC result. The only realistic win is New Mexico.
If we get good play from our new QB(s), we will do well in conference.
In conference I can see us going anywhere from 8-0 to 5-3 (if our QB pans out).
So, at a minimum, a successful season would be 6-6 or 7-5.
A 9-3 season is possible if everything goes right. UTSA has so many seniors. This is UTSA's chance to have a big season.
I could also imagine a scenario where we can't find a QB (or we lose the one we find to injury) and we really struggle to score points.

I'd be happy with two wins as long as they're games 1 and 3.

Six would be acceptable for ODU. That leaves open the possibility for a bowl game and protects the whole never had a losing season argument for recruiting purposes. Plus they are returning a ton of impact seniors on offense.

I agree, it is going to take some time for kugler to get his system in place.

For North Texas anything less than 7-5 and a bowl would be a bummer. We should now be reloading vs rebuilding under coach Mac.
