Noone wants to say or has said it yet but also this team has underachieved a bit this season as is even to this point.

If I remember correctly we were predicted to finish no worse than 3rd in league play but we wound up with a 5th seed.

Josh can say this has been a good season if he wants to and maybe it has in some respects but we still didn't finish were we were supposed to.

He can say its successful if he wishes but still not living up to what most thought we could do.

Flame if you wish but I just felt someone needed to say that.

People KILLED Doug Gottleib for being the only CBS analyst to pick Memphis 3rd (instead of 2nd like everyone else).

I bet we wish Douggie had been correct, now.

It's all a moot point if they get past next weekend......I'm reserving judgment until then.

Yeah. That is the good thing...all the folks that are ready to write the season off NOW when there still are games to play.

Definitely. People were standing on the ledge after the Houston game, and then came the Louisville game a few days later.

It sucks to get knocked out this early on your home court....it's really inexcusable, but IF (big if) they get to the Sweet 16, the season will be considered a success by pretty much anyone with synapses firing.

This team has many flaws and unless it can make outside shoots it can not beat a good team--no matter how much we want it too!

BTW--If I am not mistaken we finished tied for 3rd.

I looked it up and you're right but still noone predicted us to be a 5 seed in the tourney at the end of the year when we started.

I do agree a good job next week in the tourney and all will be forgiven but I still think most national media or whomever picks the preseason
position had us at 3rd.

this is exactly what I was going to say.

NO one expected brown to pull a season like this out of his a$$. Same with Cronin. They were the two surprises that put us exactly where we ended up.

I dont think anyone predicted what seed one team would be. They predicted finish. Are you fishing here?

When will we stop placing expectations on predictions made by people that have rarely seen this team play? When will we start holding people responsible when they over rate this team pre-season every year? Just because we can beat top 20 teams doesn't mean we are a top 20 team.

Bingo! Seemingly every year, especially the last 2-3, the pre-season polls come out and most develop delusions of grandeur that this will be the year we make another Elite 8 or Final Four run. Yet, the fact is that this sqaud is a borderline top 25 team, which if fortunate (and a good draw), we MIGHT be able to make it to the Sweet 16...maybe.

For all of those that are bent out of shape at Josh or this team, let me ask you a question...What, over the past 3 years, would have led you to imagine that this year's squad was a Top 10 team/Elite 8 (or better) contender? Couple your short memories with the 'blue colored glasses' and you have only yourself to blame. This team is NOT and NEVER HAS BEEN a top 10 team.

Do I want a Final Four? Do I hope we can get back there, soon? SURE! But, this team isn't and never has been Top 10 material. We have ZERO seniors or juniors on this year's roster that will make an NBA roster. We have ONE freshman that MIGHT make the NBA after his senior year, and that's it. I love our guys and thankful for the senior's that put on the Tiger gear, but we simply aren't that good.

We are a nice team. Borderline Top 25. And, might win a game or two (if lucky and good draw) in the Dance. That is it. You'll all be a lot happier when you remove your unfounded expectations and see this squad for what it is.

We are simply back to reality. Cal's ridiculous run twisted many folks' expecations.

Before 2006 our last conference tournament championship was in 1987. That's 19 years without winning a conference tourney.

Guess how many conference regular season championships we won between 1985 (Keith Lee's Final Four year) and 2004 (Cal's first confernce championship)?

Two in 19 seasons....1995 and 1996.

This team has talent. This team can play with anybody (Florida) and has proven that it can beat really good teams (Louisville, Gonzaga, OK State).

However, we also know that this team is capable of laying eggs.

I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before I judge the season.
