RPI based tourney Resume
Similar to Previous years...Only difference is the name of the front of our opponents Jerseys...

0-2 vs. Top 25
2-5 vs. Top 50

This year should be interesting during tourney selection time...

But we do have 5 more top 50 opportunities...

and 3 of those 5 are at home. Just winning out at home in reg season means 22 wins and 5 top 50 wins. I would think that we'd prob be no lower than a 6 seed.

We will improve to 3-5 as of saturday, imo.

That will also make us 3-2 vs. the top 25

We should also be able to sneak in at least 1 more during the AAC tournament.

I agree. The key is to get a top 3 seed in the AAC tourn. There's 5 good teams (although I still think SMU is sketchy) and 2 of them will play each other in the 1st round.

SMU will have to struggle down the stretch not to get in imo.

That win over us really helped their resume.

I bet they get another solid resume win before selection sunday.

Basically, if SMU gets 1 more win against us, Cincy or Louisville, and doesn't lose to Rutgers or UCF; they are in for sure. They are probably in even if they don't. They will have 2/3 of those games at home; and should get at least one more shot at a top 50 win on a neutral floor during the AAC tournament.

They just don't need to do dumb stuff like lose to another team like South Florida.

We can run them out of the building as well.

I don't think they play good enough D to beat us at home.

Extra tough at home, too

Playing at home that's true. They still haven't beaten a top team on the road. They have only 2 road wins, UCF and Houston.

I don't think they are going to need any big road wins to get in.

It would help their seed, but I don't think they will need it to get a bid.

RE: RPI based tourney Resume
This speaks to the team's wins the last few years being more impressive than generally accepted.

But- at the time Memphis beat OK State on a neutral court they had all their players and were top ten- and at the time Memphis beat Louisville in Louisville, they indeed had just lost a player, but were ranked really highly and will overwhelmingly end the season in the top 20.

Those two games alone, barring a bad loss moving forward- are difference makers- but out of those last 5 higher level games coming up- to secure a better seed than last year, our kids really need to win 3 or more of them.

This year, making the Finals of the conference tourney alone should secure another really good win and winning the tourney will be a big boost in seed. Still think 5 is about where we are headed- hope for better.

Agreed...

No matter what the selection committee says the names on the front of the Jerseys matter...I think our wins in previous years were discounted just for the name on the front of the Jersey.

Agreed. You would hope that the selection committee will give us credit for beating Oklahoma State when they were at full strength. We beat Louisville after Behanon left; but they sure aren't doing any worse without him.
