I checked on ESPN and going back 12 years nobody has gone winless in our conference. After Charlotte's losses to UTSA and Rice we are helping to keep the Pirate's hopes alive. Going 0-fer would be a monumental fail though.

RE: CUSA basketball coaches on hot seat...
The only ECU fan putting blame on Lebo for the mess that is this season is SJ. About a month before the season started I thought we'd finish slightly above .500 overall. Then Armstrong quit the team and Straughn announced his career was over. I thought there was still a chance of finishing around .500 but the margin of error was pretty much zero. Then Guilmette got hurt and now this is just painful. Really just by smoke and mirrors did we finish 11-4 OOC, but now the reality has set in. This team has no real point guard, no consistent post presense, and it's only consistent scoring threat is a 6"0 guard who can't dribble and is a completely one dimensional player. Yes he's elite at that one dimension, but with no one to take any pressure off him he's getting smothered and really only gets open shots now on pure scramble plays.

Lebo will likely be up for an extension in a few years. I think the only way he leaves is for a better job.

Lebo will stay because ECU fans are happy. That is the bottom line.

ECU fans are not "happy" but most of us understand the hand we got dealt this year. Quite frankly I'm disgusted, but my anger is reserved for those 2 quitters Sampson and Armstrong.

RE: CUSA basketball coaches on hot seat...
Lebo signed like an 8 year contract after last season. Unless they negotiated a hell of a buyout clause, there is no way ECU would fire Lebo.

Besides, ECU has had a lot of issues this year. It'll take another year or two of poor performance before Lebo is really on the hot seat.

I don't think Lebo is a very good coach, but even I wouldn't fire him because of the results of this season.

that makes sense coupled with another level of competition you guys now face....

disclaimer: really don't know much about our new additions and their issues....rely on your posters to fill me in

Jarvis has had issues with player turnover (multiple players have left the program in the past 2 seasons for a variety of reasons) and the team just hasn't gotten any better. We had 1 really good year a few years back when we won the Sun Belt, but have regressed since. Just based on his past history and contract status, I could see him getting 1 more year...but given that he wasn't hired by the current AD, I could see something happening sooner than later.

I agree about Jarvis, although I've been perplexed that he didnt have more success there....

Ben Braun, Rice...not everything that's happened to the program recently is his fault, but 5-26 last year and 6-14 so far this year isn't gonna give you much job security

04-cheers

He's got nothing to work with this year. Folks forget that ECU is coming off arguably the most successful season in the history of ECU basketball. I love that some fans are expecting more than we've done this season! Expectations are GOOD to have as a program.

Next season I expect much better results. Duking it out with UCONN, Cincy, & Memphis next season will sting... but we could have a really good season next year with all the talent coming in. I'm expecting at minimum NIT next season.

I love that. Continuity is a good thing. Lebo is a good coach.

Because of Lebo, we're pouring $ into the basketball program like we've never done before. We're moving to a league with a few perennial basketball powerhouse programs... we're getting our best recruiting class ever... to get rid of Lebo now would be idiotic.

.....why I like this board and throw things out there.....

Lebo's coaching is still suspect and there are other options......just sayin'

Lebo will have us top 5 in the AAC next year. Mark it down.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Herrion will be back. Ugh, I hate the thought of it. He'll play the 'we are young' card and say losing Pittman hurt us badly. They'll give him another year to sink the program even deeper into oblivion.

best thing USM has done in my mind was sell the NEB game last year to buy out EJ....I thank the general's hard tactics for that one! I didn't think we had the cajones.....

purging can be a good thing....

You guys were going to be top 4 and competing for the conference title this offseason. Top 5 in the AAC? Nope.
