RE: Great deal on the Commercial Appeal
You couldn't pay me to read that piece of trash.
Having said that, this city is bursting with successful restaurants, new and old; new young entrepreneurs from other places who see its worth and potential; tons of goodwill among the races (there are more than two here, you know); a vibrant downtown, a thriving Cooper-Young, an exploding Overton Square, and a Crosstown about to take off on a multi-million dollar Sears Building renewal; thriving neighborhoods with a Greenline, dog parks, skate parks, festivals; an Overton Park renewal; a world-class medical establishment, including LeBonheur, the West Clinic, the Shea Ear Clinic, Semmes-Murphy Clinic, Campbell Clinic, and St. Jude; a renovated Civil Rights Museum; two new airlines and a new riverboat and landing; one of the most gorgeous law schools in the nation; a totally renovated Liberty Bowl; exciting U of Memphis sports and a pro basketball team, baseball in a lovely downtown stadium; the world-famous, historic Peabody Hotel, and the historic Orpheum Theater; world class museums, including the Botanic Garden, the Brooks Museum, the Belz Museum, and a top-notch zoo; the bbq contest, Beale St. Music Fest, and Sunset Symphony; many very fine private schools; a historic African-American college (LeMoyne-Owen) and a nationally-recognized college (Rhodes); blues music everywhere, and just this week the International Blues Challenge, which will fill the clubs on Beale with bands and thousands of fans from all over the world, on and on and on....and might I add, way more soul and heart than Dallas-Fort Worth could even imagine. And I didn't even mention Graceland and Elvis. But enjoy your life in Texas.
