2 Savage Questions
1. Why do they send the excess students to the upper deck. If they want drive them off and not come back. That's how to do it. They should after the 10 minute mark allow the students to fill the rest of the lower bowl.

2. Who picks the awful music played over the PA during timouts? (I'm not talking about the music played by the pep band.) I believe it should be rockin' to energize the crowd. Not the garbage they've been playing the last couple years that has no beat or less than 90% of the crowd even listens to..........

I would suggest you call or email Mike O'Brien.

I'm sure the answer to your first question is the same reason they don't let general admission people move to premium seats that aren't being used. People paid for the premium seats and whether they attend the game or not, they belong to those people for the season. Now, some of the seats aren't sold, but I'm sure the theory is that if you let GA people move to those seats there will be less of a reason for them to purchase better seats in the future.

This is essentially how it's done everywhere. I get where you're coming from, and I'd like to see all of the lower bowl seats filled. Just not sure how to do it. Should someone with a general admission ticket be able to move to an unused club seat that has a $500 premium? What if someone comes late to the game and a student is in their seat?

If UT had a history of students attending games in large numbers, I would think that better seating could have been carved out for them. As it is, usually the current seating isn't full.

Classic was the idiot who played "Who Let the Dog's Out" over the Glass Bowl PA system this past season as the Huskies were kicking our @$$...

... also I recall several ill-timed uses of the "Here Comes the Boom" video throughout the season...

Someone likes techno at Savage, I'm blaming H2O... but then again maybe that is drawing the raucous crowds...

1. I hope that's not true. The student section is for the students!! I realize we don't have a true student section (besides the Blue Crew/ True Blue), where the students stand up and get rowdy, but making them sit in the upper deck while grandparents/ little kids are in their seats just doesn't seem right to me. We gotta encourage student participation and moving them to the upper deck won't do it!

RE: 2 Savage Questions
The two center sections of the south side of the old Field House was the student section back in the day and it was usually packed. Even then the crowd sat on their hands a lot and there was no real organization of the students for cheers, etc but at times it got pretty crazy. I know they can't do that these days but when I see Akron or Buffalo student sections I wish we could do more.

Ohio University has a really nice student section also, with students standing all along the court and some pretty cool cheers.

Was True. I could hear them grumbling as they were headed up the steps to the top of the upper deck...... makes them not want to come back.......

But what are they supposed to do when the student section is full? Build more seats right then? Maybe if they would show up early they wouldn't be facing that problem.

In all actuallity, considering the overall size of Savage Arena, the student sections are not really that large. One problem occured was there were some non students in the student sections taking up seats. I'm all for kids sitting down near the action. They are future fans and students, but maybe there should be a family section in the lower bowl for kids. (Maybe there is now)

RE: 2 Savage Questions
One thing to address this problem, which is both on the university for not enforcing, as well as the public for not sitting in there seats, but there has been a large number of old folk, (assuming) non students sitting in the student section. there could have been room for most of the students that did not have a seat

RE: 2 Savage Questions
We could just have the ushers check for a Rocket Card when entering the student section, but yet we have people who complain about the ushers who check tickets for people who actually pay for their seats.

RE: 2 Savage Questions
whoever runs savage is doing a piss poor job. the arena downtown wont schedule alot (if anything) in the summer or during hockey season........

so theres the window for savage to get that audience back from the stroh center.

apparently playing college venues is big these days. and toledo needs to figure it out because LARGE acts used to play savage hall in the 70's and 80's

RE: 2 Savage Questions
First game of the year that they probably did need to police the student section and the students did turn out. Kudos to the student body tonight. I don't have an issue with non-students sitting in those sections early in the season or when we're not close to selling out. Hopefully the winning keeps happening and the students keep packing the bookends.

they have yet to play one of my songs, although most of my requests are jokes, especially last nights. mosts of my requests are Nickelback, which would be a joke on the entire arena
