They still don't believe in Duke.

We are ranked so highly. That is very odd.

Kinda calls into question their formula, doesn't it?

I don't think so. Duke had a great year, and deserved their ranking based on how polls go. This takes into account scheduling, and how teams do relative to how other teams did against the same opponents.
One of the reasons Miami is so high is they played some very tough defenses, probably three of the four or five best in the country. While Miami's offense didn't make people really stand up and take notice this year, these metrics look at the fact that they performed better against the likes of FSU, VT and UFs defenses than others did.
I don't think Duke being a top 50 in this is anything negative, that is unthinkable in previous years.
No system is perfect, but this is one of the best by far (actually, I prefer the F/+ system which combines this with the FEI) in my opinion, compared to the Sagarin or a bunch of other garbage.

I guess that is true. Louisville had a really good defense, or at least it looked like they did. That said, I'm guessing this ranking isn't all that dependent on our defense, because it was bad. Next year I have high hopes that Al will be able to get his guys going finally, but you never know.

VT was the only team to go to a bowl that faced 10 bowl teams. So I guess the schedule factor and results put VT in the top 25.

Of course, when you play in a league like the ACC, the fewest bowl teams you could possibly face in the regular season would be 5...
