RE: Looks like 100 million
These references of his are getting to be insulting to our intelligence. Buuut, there still seems to be some willing hook, line and sinker swallowers out there. So at least they're not insulted by this drabble.

RE: Looks like 100 million
Guy raised the money through his own initiatives. Added value to our facilities and to the behind the scenes cosmetics for the college athlete. Continues to recruit well and still he can do nothing good with regard to half of the people here. The negativity is so thick here its nauseating.
I get it... he won ONE game in 2013... Yep. Not making excuses for the over-all record... but also I am withholding judgment until I see him work his process for the next few seasons. If he continues to drown and prove a lack of ability to coach... then by all means I will be all in with regard to replacement. Until then I choose to sit back and wait it out...

STOP with the "recruiting well" nonsense.
NOBODY has signed an LOI yet, so we haven't recruited anybody - we are in process of recruiting.
And even if we (or anybody else) get a "highly-ranked" class - doesn't mean squat, at least for a few years.

"It was all privately funded money. None of it came from the university. I had to go out there in two months in about 50 days and raise it all and we did.”
This statement by PJ is really hard to believe. The article says your Gary Fund normally raises $1 Million per year. That is a known organization, staffed to raise funds, but yet PJ comes in off the street, has time to make all of the Tradition videos, recruit, do some coaching, design the new facilities, and in less than 2 months he raised more than 3 times what the Gary Fund makes in a year? It would be interesting to see a list of donors and to follow the money trail on this.

ok... I will retract my comment.
PJ continues to just sit on his a$$ in his office... not calling anybody and getting absolutely NO interest in our program from good recruits around the country. Amazing we even pay this guy. Last I checked.... the concept of recruiting goes far beyond signing day.

He took a group of players built for a spread offense (which hides individual weaknesses by spreading the field wide open) and put them into a pro style offense (which matches players up one on one and exposes weaknesses). Even the defense was somewhat gimmicky in the past, and he transformed that into a basic 4-3 scheme. The weaknesses were pretty glaring this past season, especially with all of the injuries too. Like I said, if he keeps this up (recruiting), he will start winning those individual battles.
I never saw a team that gave up... in fact they seemed to play harder as the year went on. That's something that definitely could NOT be said for previous teams, especially last season.

GREAT COACHING!!! Ask that guy who handed him his lunch from Nichols State about our great coaching, I'd tell you to ask EMU's HC who coached against us last year, BUT HE WASN'T THERE!!

RE: Looks like 100 million
Interest is not signing.
And signing is not producing.
Rating recruiting of kids who haven't got HS diploma yet is less than a crap shoot done by people who haven't coached a day in their life.
Otherwise - how does MSU win Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl with all their "2-3 Star" recruits, for one obvious example?

How can people seriously sit here and say that WMU's 28 verbals (all rated very highly) mean absolutely nothing?
Team went 1-11 and Fleck went out and got BETTER recruits.
But no, you're right... that's irrelevant until signing day.

There was a guy in Florida who had earmarked a big donation, it was coming when he passed. It happened last year after we signed Doogie and they keep spinning it as Doogie went and raised it and what's worse, he keeps repeating it as fact.
Pretty bad when even a chip is getting insulting by all this spin.

RE: Looks like 100 million
When I use the term "recruiting well" with regard to Fleck I am not saying that these kids are going to sign or that they are even going to pan out... I believe he is doing well on the trail with regard to garnering interest in a team that just won ONE game all season. And garnering interest from some pretty high profile players.

Yeah, flipping a kid from Ohio State to Western Michigan is no big deal.
Holding onto kids with offers from Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Notre Dame, Kansas St., Nebraska, etc. offers is no big deal either.

Because verbals mean nothing. So yes, it IS irrelevant until signing day - and beyond.
Fleck hasn't "gotten better recruits" because none of them has signed, much less proven they can produce at this level.
Remember those eight scholarship players who have left program as reported in GAZETTE other day?

Snivel snivel snivel Persky.
You know what a big deal is? Winning more than you lose. The rest, is all blah blah blah until we see results.

If they start spinning by trashing those players, then all bets are off around here.

Yes, knew about those kids leaving a while ago... kids leave programs all of the time. They saw the writing on the wall. Nobody of significance left. What's your point?
