Looks like 100 million
http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...er_default

Quote:Let me put it in perspective for everybody: Alabama built a locker room for $100 million,” Fleck explained. “It has a waterfall in it and it has all types of stuff. Ours was $748,000. What we’ve done is make it look like a $100 million locker room. I think it was important that the design came into play. It was really exciting because I got to be a part of designing the whole building. We got exactly what we wanted. That’s another reason why I knew this job was for me, because it had to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Ground up? This fan base is getting ground up. Worst to first was never even in play until PJ made us worst.

RE: Looks like 100 million
Just more spin from PJ and the administration. Hiller hit it on the head. PJ reduced the program to one of the worst in the country so now it needs a total rebuild. He was hired to take it to the next level - it did not need to be rebuilt, only advanced (at the time at least). Other points I question:

Didn't we keep hearing that PJ raised $5M?? So now we find out that we spent $3.4M and the Gary Fund normally raises $1M. That cuts the incremental contribution down to $2.4M.

I don't get Kathy's quotes either. She states in the article, " We hadn’t really done a lot to our facility for over 15 years". Yet the Seeley Center, a $25M project, was completed in 2003 and the turf in Waldo was replaced in 2006. I Agree that some of the facilities needed to be refreshed as even 10 years is a long time, but spare the hyperbole. Just the facts please.

And the facts are that we had an overall winning program under the prior staff. It was not at the level any of us wanted it to be, but it was far better than the 1-11 team we saw this season. We were a mediocre mid major program that needed to elevate to get to the next level, not a rebuild program like we are today.

Can we dispense with the spin!!

RE: Looks like 100 million
So has anyone seen numbers for total 2013 Gary Fund dollars?
Much of the normal Gary Fund $1 million is designated for other than football. If they gave my Gary Fund Basketball designated dollars to football I would be quite upset.

Isn't Jim Calhane now heading up the Gary Fund maybe he should be getting atleast some credit for the increase.

Seems like it took about four years to raise funds for updated basketball locker rooms.

“If we’re going to compete with Big Ten schools, which we have in recruiting this year, and beat Big Ten schools, you have to be able to compete with them facility-wise. "

Can we just start with beating EMU there hot shot.

Think he's a pain now, just think if he starts winning.

Gotta love the WMU-Alabama comparisons. Makes total sense to go there.

RE: Looks like 100 million
I mean... do people seriously think the 1-11 record this past season was ALL on coaching? The previous staff was not recruiting well these last few years. Coaching of course makes a huge difference but talent wins game as well. You can hate P.J. for whatever reason, but he is recruiting VERY well and the wins will come if he keeps it up.

I mean….gosh….recruiting is the third leg of the three legged stool. The other two legs aren't short, they're MISSING!! THAT is why we weren't competitive in most of those losses. Not that we lost, we lost ugly, never improved, and then lost to a team with NO HEAD COACH.

He's proven he can't coach, ask Nichols state, no talent gap there, and this team looked flat out bad a few games last year. Getting high profile recruits and shiny locker rooms isn't the recipe to winning. It's window dressing. You guys act like recruiting is going to be the panacea, newsflash, it's not.

No, he could out recruit bama and he wouldn't win with that talent, I'm convinced. Wish someone would pay me 400K a year to talk gibberish and snow a community like this, I'd do it for a couple of years too.

Turf needs to be replaced every so often or it becomes dangerous.

Can debate whether the other "cosmetic" changes - new chairs, repainting walls around Waldo field, a special room just for the multitudes of NFL scouts that swarm our practices like locusts, etc. But -

Imagine all the money we could have saved if "ROW THE BOAT" or "RTB" or oars weren't plastered all over the place.
