He would need a jump shot. He could probably play the 4 at the NBA level, but his size would keep him out of the 5 spot.

Unless he develops a jumper like Kmart did, I doubt if he has a chance.

If he had dedicated himself to this current role 3 years ago, yes.

Intetesting Q that the gentleman sitting with me at the game yesterday posed. Play like he has and he will open some eyes.

Larry Brown said he reminds him of Ben Wallace.

You have to remember that Larry Brown is 70 something.

JJ is very long, quick and insanely bouncy - I think he might very capable of becoming a tough defender of NBA small forwards.

If the NBA sees it that way - I think he has a shot at being taken.

Amazing transformation from a guy who started out as a out of control energy novelty act. He is showing that he can play smarter and do more all the time. His stock is rising.

If he were a legit 6'10 I'd say he'd have a very real possibility. Instead he is listed at 6'8 but is probably more like 6'6.

The NBA is valuing spacing more and more and JJ simply doesn't offer that at all. He has the skills of a 5. And very good skills at that. But his lack of size probably prevents the possibility of the NBA.

There is a place in the NBA for guys like Jackson, high energy shot blocker/rebounder. The Reggie Evans', the Maxiel's, etc.

Jason Maxiell is much thicker and stronger but no taller. JJ is quicker and probably better suited to guard out to the perimeter.

I think there is decent chance that the spread out NBA game suits JJ better than college. He struggles in the "pack it in" zone game where teams can camp out bigger guys near the basket.

Maybe he gets his shot at the NBA, maybe he doesn't. But he is far more versatile and quick than most guys his size and you have to think he will add 10-15 more pounds in the next few years.

I think he has a decent chance and if he continues to play like last night, a good chance.

Jackson is a much better NBA prospect than Kilpatrick. There's not a huge demand for guys in the NBA that have decent set shots but below average ball handling skills and limited ability to create his own shot.

I believe someone will give Jackson a shot because of his defense and shot blocking. He gained a lot of muscle this year, if he does that again next year he's a legit prospect.

RE: Can Justin Jackson mean mug his way to the NBA?
As much as I love JJ, IMO he won't get much of a look by The League. He has almost zero offensive game other than put backs of offensive rebounds. Granted he is extremely quick for a college 4 or maybe 5 but at the next level most of the men will be quicker than those he faces today. Maybe not AS quick as JJ, but quick enough to offset the huge edge he has enjoyed thus far this year. I'd like to wait and see how he performs against the better part of UCs schedule.

With all that said, I'd absolutely love to see him in the NBA. He's so high energy, so intense that he'd be infectious for his teammates, kinda Rodman-esque without the totally outlandish stuff. I wish him the best of luck and with any luck i'll have to eat some crow for this review

I think poorman's Rodman also. Remember, when Rodman was with his first team the Pistons, he did not have the powerful body. He developed that over his career.

Lance is much better than SK.

Lance has better handles and is a much better athlete
He also had developed into a top defender.

Lance is going to get paid in the offseason

RE: Can Justin Jackson mean mug his way to the NBA?
Lance is a much, much better player than SK in my opinion. He is a terrific ball handler for his size, a terrific passer, is very good at getting to the basket and creating his own shot, and is a very good defender. Just a complete player.

SK has a very loose handle on the ball, struggles going to his left, cannot create his own shot, and struggles to penetrate.

These two guys are far apart in skills.

Better handles, better passer, has finally developed his shot. Yes, Lance is definitely that much better.

I used the Maxiell comparison for JJ last night. Maxiell was a 10 minute per game defensive/energy guy for his first few years in the league. I think JJ might be able to hold down a role like that but he will need a lot more nights like last night to even get a chance.

Even if he never gets a cup of coffee in the NBA, I find it amazing that the idea is even being contemplated. What a step forward.

If this was 1960, he'd be an all-star in the NBA. Unfortunately, if you're an undersized 4, your best talents need to be ball handling and shooting, not blocked shots and post moves. He'll do REALLY well for himself in an undersized Euroleague.
