We already know what you all think you're going to do. It's been inescapable for the past 8 months with all of your threads. He asked what other teams' fans think. Hope that concept doesn't escape you
Georgia Southern lost to more FCS teams than Georgia State did last year. They did beat more FBS teams (1) though. The issue isn't that Georgia Southern is a bad team or a bad add, its just that some of Georgia Southern fans have been reading too much into the Sagarins and the chatter on Any Given Saturday. You will probably lose to Georgia Tech, Navy, and NC State. You get all three on the road and your win in Gainesville means that people will pay attention to you.
Old Dominion's fans are awfully proud of their team. They played a 'middling-good' North Carolina team. What happened? They ended up having 80 points put on them in three quarters. This is how bad it can get, especially at the end of the season after you run down your depth chart.
By the way, this isn't a dig on Georgia Southern, but on the unrealistic expectations of some of their fans. I'm glad they expect to be great.
But history tells us that 7-4 FCS teams don't usually have winning records when they move up. And that teams that have 7 road games have a hard time getting to 6-6.
And USA lost at home to a 7-5 FCS team and went 6-6 in FBS. Sounds like using your logic, USA should have gone 0-11 after losing to Southern Utah at home.
Just remember we dominated Florida which is something I doubt any SBC team this year would have done.
Yes we lost to Southern Utah. Shame on us. Upsets happen.
6-4 in FCS plus an upset on the road against a FBS team with a losing record doesn't produce much confidence from me on you guys having a winning record next year. Here's your resume from last year
Beat Savannah State (finished winless versus FBS/FCS) at home
Beat St Francis (losing record in FCS) at home
Loss to Wofford on the road (losing record in FCS)
Beat Chattanooga (winning record in FCS - yea!) at home
Lost to Samford (winning record in FCS) on the road
Beat the Citadel (losing record in FCS) at home
Lost to Appy (losing record in FCS) on the road
Lost to Furman (winning record in FCS) at home
Beat Western Carolina (beat one team - Elon - in FCS) at home
Beat Elon (won 1 game in FBS/FCS) on the road
Beat Florida (FBS - losing record) on the road
You have 7 wins this year. Exactly one of them was over a team with a winning record in FCS. You beat two on the road (both had losing records). 3 of your 7 wins were over the dregs of FCS (Savannah State, Elon, and Western Carolina - between the THREE of them, they had exactly 1 win over FCS teams outside that group). Next year you play SIX bowl eligible teams in FBS, four of them on the road. And I promise you, beating NC State on the road isn't a done deal (I hope you win). They'll be better next year and they beat a FCS team comparable to Ga Southern this year (Richmond).
You had 6 home gams and 5 road games.
New Mexico State and Idaho would have finished at least at 7-4 with that schedule.
I hope you guys prove me wrong, but I see nothing in your record this year to reasonably predict 6-6, much less 8 or 9 wins next year.
