RE: Seriously...Who will be our QB for 2014?
One qb we are getting will be converted to defense.
This guy may be a cut above anything else on the roster at that position. (Instant starter). Do you tell him to take a hike? BTW we received a commitment from another defensive player today (JUCO) and we are recruiting other JUCO defensive players.

FYI

We have commitments from (Defense)
Tusun Young (DB - Tallahassee, Fla.)
Jalen Stewart (DL - Columbus, Miss.)
David Norris (LB - Madison, Ala.)
LaDarius Jackson (DE - Birmingham, Ala.)
Kalen Jackson (DB - Copiah-Lincoln Community College)

More info
(Per Drew)

UAB is targeting some JUCO guys as you know. This is probably only a small portion of guys who visited recently or coming up, but some names..

Northeast (Miss.) CC defensive tackle Parrish Huddleston visited last weekend.
Mesa (Ariz) OL Corey Clements visited for the USM game
Coach Poteete at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M said last week that he thought DE Josh Jones and DB Michael Cole were visiting this weekend.
GMC QB Pat Thomas said UAB was interested in several teammates, but didn't yet have names of guys who had visited or were visiting.

Yep,

You are right MB. We need to start moving some of this stuff over there and start directing traffic over there. Access to that board is for members only.

Right. Recruits are going to leave the school because fifteen idiots on a message board are discussing the train wreck that is our football program. We were all thrilled with a lot of the guys last year only to watch half of them switch to wku at the last minute.

And my point about was Brazil is it doesn't take fancy things to win. I know our facilities suck as does anybody on this board but at some point that excuse gets old.

RE: Seriously...Who will be our QB for 2014?
Damn right it gets old but it's not an excuse. It's a fact. It's so much a fact the athletic department is working on a plan to sink some money into football facilities. They are just not ready to announce yet what it is.

Is that our only issue? No but it is a major one. Our problem is not any one thing.

We should have won a minimum of five games and facilities were a part of it. Everything from recruiting to a player tearing up an ankle on our piece of **** practice field. The other parts were injuries and coaching. Throw on top of it not only the SMALLEST recruiting budget in FBS but a budget smaller than many FCS programs. It would be nice to have something nice to show a recruit. It's not like we have money to waste.

I think we get the Huddleston kid not a lot of major offers Mississippi Kid. Clements an Alabama kid I hope we can still bring home USF site said we lead at one time. If he visited the Southern Miss game things might change or talking to his starting QB on a visited could seal him up. I think we could get up to three guys from NE OK AM JC

Ok. I'll break the news.

Our offense will be a Notre Dame box with a twist.

We will have 4 QB's back there.

Now you will all understand why we need several more QB's on the team.

When we had the steel shield we recruited QBs and TEs and moved them to the DL. Just sayin. I remember Kyle Bissinger for example. QB in HS.

Didn't we also move Joe Webb to WR?

Kevin Drake moved to WR. Lee Jolly.

Moved Drake to WR and he played in NFL Europe at that position.

Yes they were. We actually used to do that a lot. It took a couple years for us to start seeing results.

Which is why we should decide on a position for guys and leave 'em there rather than switching back and forth. Pickren comes to mind.

I agree. That's an area this staff needs to improve on. They know what needs to be fixed based on what I have heard. Let's see if they can get it done.

RE: Seriously...Who will be our QB for 2014?
Players have ALWAYS been moved to positions where the team needed them at the time. Cornelius "Biscuit" Bennett played fullback in HS, but he was moved to LB in college and it worked out well for him.

When a team has a shortage of "starter" talent, you put your best talent where you perceive that talent will help the team the most at that time. As more talent is added, the player may be moved more than once during his career. That's one of the evaluations a coaching staff must constantly do.

Do we have any players on the Alabama/Mississippi all star game on TV? I see some defensive players out there. Some big boys on the O-line also.

Yep, especially reproduced.

We have several players that played multiple positions as well in high school.

Yep, several........Darius Powell reminds me of a kid that could play almost anywhere. I bet he would be a great option-type QB.
