Missouri State: $4 mil in basketball upgrades, $25 mil for stadium now underway
big facility improvements happening right now for the FCS school. The school already has top notch Basketball arena, baseball and softball stadiums. When the current projects are complete, there will be a brand new soccer/track stadium(1000 seats), field hockey/lacrosse stadium(1000 seats), sand volleyball (berm seating), and major football stadium improvements (new east stands, track removed and field moved closer to west stands, and a grass berm on north end of field)
$3.7 million new basketball locker rooms and offices
http://news.missouristate.edu/2013/05/16...x-project/
Football stadium project bid was awarded this week, demo of current east stands to start in 2 weeks. I can't find any renders of the new stadiums, they were taken down from the schools website.

CUSA sits at 14 members but it would not surprise me to see 16 members eventually. Missouri State would be a nice fit.

They are also be a good fit for the MAC. They already have a solid foot in the door, with two sports already competing in the conference.

I wonder if CUSA would consider going as big as 18 if it thought it could enhance its geography or boost its status in men's basketball.
I'm somewhat surprised that the AAC hasn't thought of moving to 16 with UAB, ODU, Charlotte, UMass to jack up the basketball profile more.

If MSU ever gets a decent football program together, I'd love to see you in the MAC. I know you just tied for second in the Valley, but if you guys want to be considered FBS-worthy you really should find a coach who'll take you to the next level.

I know a bunch of FBS teams that are not FBS worthy... starting with yours.

Having a good football team is a requirement for being in the mac?

I guess a fan of a 1-11 team can call out a fan of an 0-12 team. But really you wanna go there?

Miami has a lot more conference titles than Missouri and a whole lot more wins. If Missouri wins tomorrow, it will be their first conference title since 1969. Missouri has a chance to finish in the top 10 this year for the 2nd time since 1969. Miami has already done that twice in that time. Miami has a 3-0 bowl record vs. current SEC teams. What's now the CapitalOne Bowl quit inviting MAC teams after Miami whipped 3 SEC members in a row. Miami even got in the championship game in hockey in 2009. When was the last time Missouri got to the championship in any team sport? I looked it up. It was 1954 in baseball. So if Missouri wins and FSU or OSU loses, it will be the first time in 60 years.
Missouri fans have no business talking trash to anyone. And definitely not Miami. Trash talk them for attendance maybe.
Besides, where would Big 10 teams find coaches? Schembechler at Michigan, Hayes at Ohio St., Mackovic at Illinois, Pont at Indiana and Walker at Northwestern all took their schools to Big 10 titles after coaching first at Miami. Parsegian of Notre Dame and a whole list of others coached there first as well.

I'd love to see you guys apply for SBC admission. I'd actually prefer you guys to JMU.

With Missouri now in the SEC, Missouri St would be smart to join the Sun Belt as the attention in the state is focused on the Southeast. Also Sun Belt schools play SEC teams whereas the MAC plays B1G schools. It would help their recruiting to be more Southeast focused instead of Michigan/Ohio.

We've learned our lesson with UCF, Temple, and UMass, don't take weak football-only schools who can easily pick up and leave to another conference. If the MAC adds an FCS school, they're going to need at least a competitive football team.
We may be winless but we'll be back in a few years. We have a coach that won two national titles at DII, along new suites and an IPF soon be under construction. The MAC has enough parity that we're not as far away as a team like Kentucky is in the SEC.

Missouri is a big enough state to have a solid number 2 school. Missouri State is the obvious choice and they're making the investments.
Go MSU.

Sun Belt offers two easy bus trips in Olympic sports and one in football. Two opposing fan bases that are filled with people regularly traveling to the region, and Jonesboro and Springfield TV overlap into Missouri State's and Arkansas State's fan bases.

Divisional alignment appears to favor an eastern addition, but perhaps the Sun Belt could use this:
North
Missouri State
Arkansas State
Idaho/Arkansas-Little Rock
Appalachian State
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
South
New Mexico State/Texas-Arlington
Texas State
Louisiana
Louisiana-Monroe
South Alabama
Troy
Permanent rivals in football would be Georgia Southern-Troy, Georgia State-South Alabama, Missouri State-Appalachian State, Arkansas State-Louisiana, ULM-Texas State, and Idaho-New Mexico State.

football only: yes.
all sports: We would never accept that offer because of how pathetic that conference is in basketball. Maybe if we can we get a deal like Umass where we only have to play 4 basketball games a year.

I get that you want to keep your basketball program intact, but let's be real here. While MSU has a solid program in one of the best mid major conferences, you guys aren't exactly Wichita State; the last tourney you made was during the Clinton administration.
There will be a time when the MAC will force UMass (who also has a good program in a good mid major conference) to choose between pulling their football out or going in for all sports, we're not going to let them hang around forever while we have to deal with the growing pains of them adjusting to FBS. We've been a stepping stone for UCF and Temple already, we're eventually going to demand something in return or else we'll tell their football team to get lost.
MSU is in the same position, only a few years earlier. Why should the Belt take in Bears football, a historically mediocre FCS team, while getting nothing in return? (the MAC took in UMass thinking that they'd get to 14 teams with Temple) It doesn't make sense for them or any G5 conference to do so. If you want FBS football to come to Springfield, your admin needs to know what they need to do to get there.
